Dennis Mortimer: Not an Aston Villa supporter

Dennis Mortimer might have played a few games and lifted the European Cup for Aston Villa but it appears he doesn't support Aston Villa. He told Bill Howell of the Birmingham Mail today that he'd rather see Birmingham City win tomorrow.

It's well known Mortimer doesn't like Doug Ellis but maybe Ellis has distanced himself from the European Cup winning captain because he knows he supports Blues, after all Gordon Cowans, another winner that night works for Villa and is doing quite well.

Mortimer, talking of the match tomorrow said "A win for Villa would make them safe, while Blues would still be battling. But me, I'd like to see Birmingham win."

Mortimer will be taking his seat in the Doug Ellis stand tomorrow no doubt back tracking as he probably won't get a very good reception.

Maybe the article is taken out of context but maybe it isn't. Maybe he is a bluenose and maybe he should be sent packing from Villa Park tomorrow, after all the ticket office are very keen on making sure fans are segregated for the match.

I WENT TO SCHOOL AND PLAYED FOOTBALL IN KIRKBY WITH DENNIS. HE ONLY EVER SUPPORTED AND WANTED TO PLAY FOR ONE TEAM-LIVERPOOL, ACTUALLY.
