Are Everton and Boro after our Eirik?

It's January and the window is open. It's getting cold at Villa Park as nobody is likely to come in and it's looking more and more likely that somebody will be leaving.

Hendrie may be going South to Portsmouth and today the Guardian have started a rumour that Everton and Middlesbrough are after Eirik Bakke.

I've liked seeing Bakke play for Villa but I think it's too risky signing a player who is injury prone.

Now that I think about it a little more it would be nice to see Bakke and Hendrie playing together and giving a rest to Davis and McCann but with only a few games left in January maybe it's not long enough to give him a go and if Villa can't keep Bakke on loan till the end of the season then surely somebody else should be moved above him in the pecking order so they've got time to get into the flow of things.

One thing is for sure and that is he's added something to Villa but with Phillips, Berger, Laursen, Bouma and Cahill injured do we really need to bring in another player to potentially sit on the treatment table and cost us ?100,000 a month?
