Defoe staying at Spurs

Despite a rumour or two coming in to us that Manchester United are very interested in young Jermain Defoe of Tottenham Hotspur the player has publicly stated his desire to stay at White Hart Lane.

Defoe said "Not playing has been hard to take because as a forward you just want to score goals but I'm sure I'll get my chance and when I do I'll be ready."

There is no doubting Defoe is a class above most in the Premiership and I would really fancy seeing him and Rooney play together on a regular basis for England but one thing is for sure it won't be for the same club team.

Defoe went on "I've played a lot of the games this season, I've only missed the last three. I think the England manager knows what I can do."

I'm guessing it is just Martin Jol resting his star man prior to a buys Christmas season where Spurs will meet Blues, West Brom, Newcastle, Man City and Leicester.
