Take those four players out and the probable departure of Steven Davis if he keeps up this form then where is the Aston Villa in Aston Villa?

Delaney has never been Villa for me, he's always too interested in his contract and how much he's earning. Mellberg is Villa but I see him leaving soon. He won't say anything publicly but been publicly berated by the manager must have bothered him as it would anyone.

But when those players have gone where is the backbone of the team that makes it Aston Villa? I don't see it in Kevin Phillips, Patrick Berger, Eirik Bakke, Milan Baros, Thomas Sorensen, Gavin McCann, James Milner, Wilfred Bouma or Aaron Hughes.

Maybe I'm hyper-critical at a time when things are likely to change very soon but I think the downward spiral we have allowed to happen with David O'Leary has to stop otherwise we'll be looking at the team very soon and wondering where is Aston Villa.

I know that things have to change and new players are always going to come in but we are on the brink of huge change at Villa and the very core is at risk - we've had sixteen new players in since David O'Leary arrived (including loan players) and I think it's too much to quickly. Change isn't always a good thing and sometimes you have to make better with what you've got and Villa certainly had and have some very good players.

Look at Chelsea, who have gone out and spent a fortune as of late. Frank Lampard and John Terry are Chelsea. You can also look at Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United and you know exactly who the backbone is.

I'm worried that O'Leary is destroying my club and I'm not happy.

Please Doug - do what you know you have to do for the sake of our club.
