It doesn't mean I prefer John Gregory but one quote is Villa the other is a fool.
I'm not a big fan of going backwards but I'd risk the rest of this season with Gregory while looking for a permanent man and I'd even use the season to consider him.
If he approached the Chairman now and sat down with him something could be worked out - the irony is it would take a big man to make the first move.
Anyway, David O'Leary once said 'If we had taken our chances we would have won, at least' - we'll say nothing else about that.
John Gregory said about Ian Taylor signing a new contract 'Taylor is so important to us and is Villa through and through, so I don't foresee any problems. But if he rejects it, I'll throw him in the Holte End and they'll get him to sign."
Gregory made me smile while also getting the team to play football and play wanting to win.
I'd love to see John Gregory back at Villa Park as he did once promise me a beer which I never got. That and because I know for sure he'd get 25% more out of Aston Villa than David O'Leary ever thought possible.
