He got the first paragraph right when he said David O'Leary had rubbed a few people up the wrong way and when he wrote that he had even puzzled himself a few times then maybe the alarm bells ringing inside his head should have been warning enough not to write about his room mate - using the word mate is an assumption on my part.
Quinn goes on to mention that O'Leary is tough skinned. In my life I have found that the people with this 'tough skin' are usually the people that need it most. Even I've got an alarm bell ringing in my head now and we're still on the first paragraph of the Quinn article!
I shouldn't be getting so agitated over one Irishman's interpretation of another Irishman's career but when it is mostly wrong and it's only now that the press vultures are circulating O'Leary it annoys me a little.
Where were they a year ago when the football started to get really bad? It hasn't got better but they only write about him now. If they had started writing about him like this a year ago maybe he'd be gone by now!
I'd like you to go and read the Niall Quinn article so you'll understand why this next tirade is coming out so early on a Friday morning.
Not all Villa fans were delighted when O'Leary was appointed the manager - many if us knew what was coming.
We knew he'd just throw as much money as he could get his hands on at the team.
We knew he couldn't mould players into better players or communicate with them.
We knew he had no tactical ability and we knew he had finished in a worse league position every season after spending huge amounts of cash.
To sum it up we knew he was put in the job to appease a certain group of supporters by Doug Ellis and the job worked up until last season.
To appease those same supporters Doug now has to sack O'Leary.
Quinn also touches on the Djemba Djemba situation. Firstly it appears he's not aware of all the facts and is only picking up on what was in the press yesterday.
He then goes on to say that all players should have a clause in their contract that says 'You will give unequivocal support to the guy who's in charge of the team'.
If O'Leary had given 'unequivocal support to the team' I'd say he had a fair point but after some of the crap that has come from O'Leary over the past two seasons I suggest Quinn writes about what he knows and not from what he reads in the paper the day before.
Niall Quinn was a top player. But as all us Villa fans know a top player doesn't make a top manager. I would also say that a top player doesn't always make a top columnist. Next time you write about Aston Villa Mr Quinn, drop me a mail first, maybe we can sort out a few things first.
Doug will not like this article and the type of exposure it brings to Aston Villa and he'll definately not like to be given advice from Niall Quinn.
On the other hand Doug does like to read about himself so maybe this article will be the catalyst that we need for Doug to stop sharpening the axe and to use it one final time.
