Villa Milestone: O'Leary out of excuses

It's official. David O'Leary has reached the end of his 'good book' so has started again, from the beginning. He's like an eight year old with a Harry Potter!

He has this week reverted to excuses used at the start of his managerial career at Aston Villa and talking about the precarious position Villa now find themselves in he said "Two years ago, we lost against Spurs and dropped into the relegation zone."

To my dismay he continued "We quickly picked up nine points and sailed up the league. So I know it can be done. The key is for no one to panic. The lads need one win to get some momentum and restore confidence."

I'm not sure if he's looked at the league table recently but 9 points now would take us to 11th and that is assuming that noboy else picked up a point. I just can't see it happening with David O'Leary managing the team.

They had the one win against Blues and nothing turned around and my personal reason for panicking is this is his third season and going on his first two we're getting worse.

Everyone knows that a manager makes an immediate impact when joining a club. Alan Hansen once called it 'new manager syndrome'.

The true test of a manager can be seen at the end of his second season and the beginning of his third.

David O'Leary has lost the dressing room of that we can all be sure. The team is playing like they don't care. They are playing with no direction or purpose.

David O'Leary clearly doesn't know what he is doing otherwise he wouldn't be blaming everyone else and not taking a little responsibility himself.

It's a big man who can take it on the chin and an even bigger one that can admit when he is wrong. I have lost all of the little respect I had for David O'Leary - it wouldn't surprise me if he went off and managed Blues after this and honestly I think it would be the best thing that could happen for them.

I'm in two minds at the moment about starting a petition to have David O'Leary sacked. It worked for Blues when they didn't want Bowyer so maybe it work for us now?
