Villa to battle Everton for Keane

Press speculation regarding a potential transfer of Robbie Keane from Tottenham this morning introduced Aston Villa into the fold.

The Republic of Ireland international would, in my opinion, be a great addition to any Premiership team as he is a natural and predatory goal scorer.

Villa tried to buy him from Wolves before he moved to Tottenham, but as reported here, Ellis didn't want to stump up the extra ?500k.

However, it is likely he could be bought for around ?4.5m, in which case we could have saved a cool ?1m. Useless really, considering we could have had him scoring goals for us for the last four years.

Although Everton are in the market for a striker, Keane could relish the chance to play in the Midlands again for a team, hopefully, doing better than their North West rivals. He may also want to link up again with former manager O'Leary.

Fingers crossed everybody. What a strike force we would have then! Just need a couple of creative midfielders and we could be on our way. Oh, and a ?64m takeover would be nice too!
