Roy Keane: Right but wrong

I like Roy Keane, I think he was a great player, he's not at his best now but I suspect he could be a great motivator and one day maybe even a great manager.

He's got it right about Rio Ferdinand though when he says "Just because you're paid ?120,000-a-week and do well for 20 minutes against Spurs, you think you're a superstar. There's talk of putting this right in January and bringing players in. We should be doing the opposite."

Rio Ferdinand is a good player but he's not worth that much cash - nobody is - but that's why Roy Keane is also wrong.

In the interview that was never shown he also spoke about the youngsters signing new contracts, he said "When they sign the contracts, they think they have made it. They owe it to the manager, the staff and the fans. These guys thought getting new contracts was the best day of their careers. They think they have made it. They haven't."

I hate to say you're wrong Mr Keane but when these players are signing contracts that make them instant millionaires I'm afraid they have made it.

Credit where it is due, you've always given your best for your team but do you honestly think you deserve the full weekly wage your paid?

The vast majority of people that come to watch your matches, even the prawn sandwich brigade, will never earn anything close to what the players earn and all for doing something that most of us would give our right arms for - playing for our team.

You're right but you're wrong.
