Man for man on Saturday how many of those Wigan players would you swap for the Aston Villa player that played in the opposite position? I'd maybe swap one.
How many I would swap in the Chelsea team is a different story but then we could look at Charlton as another example and I'd probably not swap that many again - but I'd swap league position.
What I'm trying to demonstrate is you can have arguments for and against almost any aspect of football and there isn't always a right or wrong but what we do have are the facts.
Yes, Aston Villa have injuries and every team has injuries and every team have replacements for those injuries.
How many injuries did we have against West Ham?
On Saturday we may have had more shots than Wigan but what about shots on target - aren't they more important?
Aston Villa had five and Wigan had six. Had it been the other way around maybe we would have drawn on Saturday and not lost.
I don't like glossing over problems and that is what has been happening at Villa Park for the past 18 months. I read somewhere recently that if you look at the points we've collected from the last 38 Premier League matches we would have finished 15th last season and 16th the season before - it's simply not good enough for Aston Villa and if you want to argue with me on that point feel free.
Is it time for change or time to wait. Burley has become available and many think Martin O'Neill could be available also - would you rather have David O'Leary than one of those two?
