George Burley speculation increasing

The speculation surrounding George Burley is mounting as emails have been coming into us and Guardian Unlimited also reporting that Burley is looking likely to replace David O'Leary.

From what we understand it is outside influence pushing George Burley on Doug Ellis but he's apparently more than happy to pursue and is willing to offer a very lucrative package to get his man.

We're all for David O'Leary getting his marching orders but feel sorry for whichever team ends up with him - he has little managerial ability and is only good with the media for a while.

George Burley has a somewhat chequered past but one we would certainly like to see at Villa Park - all of his teams are determined and like to play football.

Let's hope these rumours are true and remember where you heard it first.
