Aston Villa always were the biggest club in the Midlands but Blues fans would fall back on the last victory to try and prove why they were the number one club in Birmingham.
Now the tables are turned and they have nothing, apart from the 1963 League Cup, which to this day remains the only silverware won by them.
They will always have the chance to win a match and claim that they are the better team again but if winning 27 more trophies than they have and being the bigger club has taught us anything it is that in the end we'll always be bigger, better and more successful than them.
History, which is all they have to go on now tells us how it stands. Aston Villa have won 46 times and Blues have won 37.
I'm going to enjoy it tomorrow when some of my mates are in the office and I have the chance to see how they react to the reality check that puts them back where they belong - the third team in the second City.
