The Aston Villa AGM

The Aston Villa plc annual general meeting is over for another year. No surprises but confirmation of the new training facilities to be developed at Bodymoor Heath over the next couple of years and a new pitch at Villa Park.

I have never attended one of these in the past but can clearly understand why Doug Ellis and the rest of the board don't particularly enjoy them.

Ellis took quite a bit of stick and to be honest, not all of it was warranted when you consider he's confirmed that enquiries are ongoing with the prospective purchaser and the club is probably one of the most financially sound football clubs in the country.

Sure, the point of football is to win and Villa haven't been doing that but it looks like Ellis is doing everything under his control to make sure new owners come in who have the interests of Aston Villa Football Club as a priority.

It was a fairly childish affair overall and quite a pointless exercise from what I could see.
