I'm still disappointed with the performance on Saturday but I've moved on. I've moved on because we've got this week to bring in a few players and Saturday to do it all again.
I've even looked for excuses that should really not be excuses and I've accepted them, with open arms. As for signings players this week; we've got some good rumours for you today.
The first one is James Milner from Newcastle. Believe what you want to believe but the Newcastle club site have him down as a left sided midfielder as does his Wikipedia page. Yes, we've all seen him play on the right, but we have a better left sided player in Young, although Young can play on the right too.
So, maybe Martin O'Neill is interested and maybe we'll see them switching quite a bit when they play together. Maybe.
I'm not convinced James Milner is a top four player, but the Martin O'Neill effect could have an impact, but I'm not so sure. Please remember, this is my opinion, not a statement of fact.
Moving on and we in desperate need of another midfielder and all the talk is that Michael Johnson from Manchester City will be joining us this week. Again, I'm not entirely convinced and I'm starting to winder if we have any scouts, but if the Martin O'Neill effect works and he is a young lad, who knows. He could turn out to be the next Deco.
That's almost it. We've got Walsall tomorrow and Odense on Saturday at Villa Park. I'm looking forward to Saturday, not just because it's the first competitive game of the season at Villa Park, that really means football is back, but because I'm expecting a lot of work this week and a very big performance for this match, even if we can't play any of the players we'll be signing this week.
Before I go, Kohoutek won the DVD from the other day and unless you're in the Aston Villa forum trying to win one of the other two we're giving away, they'll be no more given away here. Although we will have something quite nice in a week or two!

I'd be very happy with both those signings. Johnson was great in the first half of last season for City. The MON effect could make him great *all* season. Milner we already know is a steady, forward-thinking player. Another good buy IMO.
Still need the necessary at the back and some creativity in the middle and at the back though.
Thanks for the positive start to the week, Damian. Also, goalie Finnan in, Barry cash out?
I don't think we'll be signing anybody (except freidel) until we qualify for the UEFA cup. We will then be able to attract higher quality players and all you doubters will be silienced. Could be a master stroke by MON :)
Am I in the minority then? I really rate Milner, hes got pace, power and a good delivery and hes also got a cracking attitude.
Say what you like about him not being a 'top-four' player but neither is Bentley! Besides, finishing 11th a season ago and 16th the season before is hardly going to attract 'top-four' players.
I think we should not be banging on about 'top-four' players and bringing in 'quality' because its not going to happen and yes i know it was promised, but by who? It wasn't MON was it?
We should all be happy with the likes of Sidwell, Milner etc. because they will improve and become 'top-four' players. Buying ready made players is expensive, just ask Benitez.
JonnyW
You're probably not in the minority, I think most will probably rate Milner and you are spot on; he's got pace and a fantastic attitude - I think maybe, I'm being too harsh on the lad, but maybe if I see him under O'Neill for a season I'll change my view ..
I would welcome Milner anyday of the week , he has wanted to join us for a long time now? We know what he brings something that we lacking?
But without Barry at the minute, we really look untidy you have to admit this!
As for Johnson i think its a gamble 10m? But the facts are we need players desperately, if man city are willing to sell him is he that good??? Would they sell us richards i think not
I am expecting at least 3 players in by Saturday, it might happen That player on yesterdays post could turn out to be a nice edition to the squad if he comes!
I really want villa to win something this the year, who believes we can win something this season?
The intertoto does not count
Damian
I want a pic by my name like yours & KevLeitch, is this possible
Ian Story-moore the best job in football. Remember him on the official site last summer baging on about all the world class players he'd been watching. Like i say best job in the world. I bet MON went mad when he heard he'd been watching the good players.
I rate milner! Him and Young switching wings all day! They'd love it! Michael Johnson is quite good, i like him, he seems to have the potential to be much better than barry! We need friedel before sat! or we're fmucked!
we wont sign anyone this week!!! we still have 19 days to go till the 1st premiership game!!! no chance oneil will get another player in this early!! Patience is the key!!!
lol lol!!!
I still haven't gotten over the Bentley news to be honest. It's illustrating the fact more and more in my mind that either A) we don't have the cash we were given the impression we had, or B) MON isn't prepared to pay enough for top players.
If the answer is B you have to ask exactly how far he can take us.
Viva Villa has the penny dropped? MON hasn't got a clue when it comes to signing top class players so instead he signs rubbish like Coker, Knight, Harewood, Salifu, Routledge or he'll buy up and coming players like Young. He got luky with Carew because Lyon were desperate to get Barros.
WHERE IS THE RIGHT BACKS??? Clueless.
Does anyone know if the Milner link to Villa is genuine or is it just media talk putting two and two together? Milner was definitely interested in us a couple of seasons ago so I hope so - I thought he was one of our best players when he was on loan to us (although maybe that's not saying much).
Can i add you do not replace an 18m Barry with a 4.5m Sidwell not unless you want to go backwards & bank a load of cash for the next pub project or Art Gallery.
Spot on Jinksy. Watching the midfield the last night made me sick with rage. If someone from another part of the world was asked who the premiership team were they would def have picked Odense. All we did all night was launch missiles up to our 2 strikers. Not one mid got on the ball and tried to pass it. Petrov is just a waste of space in there and he has been for nearly 2 years now. I won't even get started on the right hand side of our team. By the way how bad must Saliou be if he still can't get a start ahead of NRC on the wing? Have seriously come to the conclusion that we have gone as far as we can with MON in charge. The guy is stuck in a time warp and still thinks he is managing Leicester and the year is 1997. All we now is to wait for him to make a bid for Heskey.
AK27 all i get on this site is stick for my comments so thanks for backing me up. You are dead right MON is stuck in a time warp bidding not enough for players because he hasn't got a clue what the market value is. Come 31st August we'll be singing his name because he's gone out & brought the 10- class signings we need or as i expect we'll be screaming for his head.
Please Please Please MON prove me wrong.
I'm not convinced by Milner, and certainly don't see him as a GBP10m player if that's the fee that's being banded about. I can't see how people can genuinely prefer him over Bentley unless you are talking about personal character, as Bentley was right up there topping the charts for assists last year together with our Ashley. If Milner's such a wonderful player, why wasn't Keegan playing him last season when he was fit? Why isn't Milner on the fringes of the England side? If Bentley is considered overrated, then only McGrath knows what we should think of Milner. If we signed him i'd expect you to start your "Is He Good Enough for Villa" series off again Damian, and I personally think the answer would be a resounding No....
He appears to know the market value of Barry.
Jinksy, where did you expect us to finish last season?
Where would you expect us to finish this season with the manager of your choice replacing MON?
If we had, just for sake of argument, Sven in charge - do you still see us having the same squad? I think not. Infact I don't think numbers or quality would be an issue at all.
How many Villa fans are there?...My estimate would be in the region of 45.000-50.000 including those abroad!..How many people post on this site?...I guess in the region of a few hundred at the most!...My conclusion is that it is a very small minority that are completely dissatisfied with the work done by MON!...The rest of us put our complete and utter faith in this man,our Savior...and two or three times a day, strole down to our local Church,Sinigogue,or Mosque, and pray to the lord that he gets his bloody finger out and finds the players we so desperately need!
nan was a fan - iIexpaected us to finish 5th & we didn't because we didn't sign the top quality players we were promoised. With an ambitious Manager prepared to back his own judgement i would expect Villa to finish 4th or 5th but that would take at least 10 players better than we already have & we alll know MON will not sign 10 players let alone 10 players better than we already have. We need player that will keep knight & coker away from our 1st team problem there is MON signed that rubbish so expaect more of the same.
saturday is shit or bust. i guess this will define our bidding, buying and transfer strategy. all in one. :(
Scouseater
I'd say we had more like 200,000 fans out there if not a lot lot more.
What you want to be asking is how many of them are active online users and interested in the club enough to visit this site and others.
I'm not sure of the numbers but I can tell you we have over 5,000 registered members and exactly 1,791 members that have had activity since we launched the forum/comments section just over a year ago. Although we also get a lot of comments from un-registered users - but I cant see that number to cant be specific for you.
I wont go into specifics about traffic but yesterday we had over 7,000 unique visitors - so in terms of those just reading and those commenting or getting involved in the forum - it's a big difference.
We also don't know how many of those that were visiting were actual Aston Villa fans - I'd say about 4,000 were, but it's all guess work.
Regarding the debate over Millner vs. Bentley, I would say go for Millner. Bentley is over rated and most assist comes from dead balls freekicks/corners etc. whereas Millner is a much better player to beat opponents. Both games against us last year Bentley was hardley seen, not involved at all. Millner have been hard done by NUFC, both how they have treated him and by team selection, SO a move from them will be a boost.
Scouseater - 45 - 50.000 Vill fans in the world??? Prick
From what i have read we put in a bid for bentley and were told he wasn't for sale so he pulled out,if you keep on trying it makes us no better than liverpool. I for one back MON and realise you can talk as much as you like but actually getting top players to come to less fashionable clubs like us isn't that easy as for bentley if he came and had a good season do you really think he would stay if a top 4 club came sniffing next season. MON is trying to build a squad of players that want to play for villa and perhaps not just use us as a stepping stone for their own career.
Jinksy thanks for the reply.
So you really think that if a new manager signed 10 new players this season from what is available that we would finish 4th or 5th. With a totally new team? A team made up of players playing for money and money alone?
So in the hope of possibly finishing one place or two places higher you would happily sack a manager who has made progress year on year and spend £150 million on a massive, massive gamble?
viva villa what are you talking about how much did sven spend where did they finish thats not a step forward i want to take most of their best players he didn't even sign how much did jol spend give me MON any day i reckon possibly the best manager outside the top 4
nan was a fan - You are Mr Prosumption. I'm at a loss to understand where you get the 150m from a new team from etc etc. We need numbers & quality in numbers if we want to progress to the next level & that is a fact. Who is available ? Tell me you seem to know. Every player is available at the right price & that's MON's problem he wont bid enough to get the players we need.
I didn't seem read anything about Milner, like what he was like when he played for Villa. If im not mistaken, he left us for Newcastle. I could be wrong it might of been before Newcastle. but im sure it was Newcastle, unless he went somewhere else in between Villa and Newcastle. If anyone knows could they please tell me. Thanks. Love from all the Vilains in Ireland
villa64 - Of course crap like Coker, Knight, Salifu, Routledge want to play for Villa we are their dinner ticket. But rubbish like that doesn't put cups in the cupboard & won't get Villa in the top 4. FACT.
But i suppose as long a rubbish players want to play for Villa & get over paid thats ok with you is it?
Tottenham - Berbatov, Modric, dos Santos (potentially)
Man City - Corluka, Elano, Petrov
Portsmouth - Diarra, Defoe, Glen Jonhson to an extent
These are all top players who signed for less fashionable clubs (there a plenty more too). We could have afforded all of them, and each one would have benefitted our team ten fold. Sorry but MON bringing in average players based in Britain is only going to keep us going for so long.
If the transfer window closed now, we'd probably be battling for survival.
vivavilla don't forget Distan as well who was available on a free transfer last year but of course Pompy showed that they actually have real ambition and offered him the going rate and got their man. Pompy signed 4 players which would all walk into our starting 11 right now and make a big difference while MON sign the cast offs of clubs below us. I would love to see Harry Redknapp as the Villa manager. And by the way it tells us where we are going if we go out and sign another 6ft 5 striker in Zigic. It will be long ball after long ball and sure who needs play makers if that is going to be the tactics for the season.
Jinksy.
Surely all 10 players you would want signed would need to be better than the players we have now, so ideally they would all start in the first game, therefore new team.
You said that all players were available at the right price. Do you really think that the right price for players better than we have (that will get us into the top 4) is going to average less than £15million? Therefore £150 million or more.
I dont think coker is crap knight was bought as a squad player i admit he isn't the best but think he covered reasonably salifu i thought came to the academy and routledge i thought was worth the gamble for the money who knows this could be his season he promised a lot 4 years ago. But havn't a few of the academy players been given squad numbers. I understand we need more players but we also need to give the youth a chance or they move on to play first team football. im sorry you disagree but i would rather watch knight who gives everything he has playing for villa than the likes of bentley who i think would disrupt the team we have some one else to take free kicks and corners
If Micheal Johnson was genuinely a target. Wouldnt he be cup-tied to play in europe?
ak27 - Spot on are you my twin.
Why all the fuss about Milner ? He is a player who sees a lot of the ball without a great deal of end product, he also has no turn of pace and will get 3 or 4 goals a season if we're lucky, a 4 miilion pound player at best. To be quite honest we'd be better off picking up Solano on a free and giving him a 2 year contract, he's a much better set piece player than Milner and can play full back, oh yeah he'll also score 7 or 8 a season.
Jinksy..p***k...How many do your think!
Thank you for the info Damien...That was one way of getting an immediate answer!
but all those teams finished below us and yes portsmouth won the FA cup but i think we all know last year was a fluke i will admit spurs did well to win the carling cup but you were talking about players to get us into the top 4 so if they finished below us over a full season surely MON is doing something right we need more players there is no doubt but have faith there might be a few players waiting on saturdays result
villa64 Pompy would have finished above us for sure if thay hadn't got to the cup final as they didn't play their full team for the last 3 or 4 premiership games. It might have been a fluke but at least they had the players capable of getting their. Do you think with our Defense and midfield that we would have gone to Old Trafford and won one nil? Not a hope in hell with the likes of Knight and no RB. We would have been torn apart like we were in the league games againest them. Pompy had the ambition to bring these palyers in and spend the money and they were rewarded by lifting the FA cup and fair play to them.
Looks like we've put in a bid for Valencia's giant striker Nikola Zigic. Go see him score lots of goals here - LINK
Can you imagine just how may headers this 6ft 7 striker will get from Ashley's free kicks?? ;D
Can we ban the use of " THE MON EFFECT " and anything similar.
It doesn't matter that they finished below us last year anymore. Look at their squads, now look at ours. Can you really see us finishing above them at the moment?
Milner is def the answer to the right hand side. Is everyone forgetting that he has done it for us before, and was our best player that season. He def played on the right for us, because Barry was then playing on the left. Much prefer him to come back to the club than have an over-rated greedy only in it for the money Bentley.
But both would be nice! ;D
Scouseater - 45 - 50.000 Vill fans in the world?
how can anyone take you seriously with a comment like that... damn man...
i think there are probably more villa fans in colombia than in birmingham... advice... get out more.
I cant understand how some dont want Milner back,he was great
for us when he had that loan spell here, I sure didnt want him to go back and there was many more villa fans like me at the time, felt the same.He hasnt got worse Newcastle have, I dont watch newcastle matches but from what I hear he was of the better ones last season 4 them.So lets get him back to produce that great form he showed when here.I reckon he would deffo come as he was well gutted last time when it broke down I remember seeing his mom hugging him round the back of bodymoor just before he got in his old mans car.
come on u lions
Midfielders ok - but what about right backs? We will be slaughtered in the Premier if this is not sorted out.
Are there any rumours going about?
Just returned from a holiday abroad after 14 days and I have lost the plot on this one.
UTV
Are villa "Allowed" To sign Foreigners??? :'(
Jinksy
Oh dear oh dear, I have come to the conclusion you are a fan of another football team, coming on here to upset and create confusion and contempt among Villa fans……..Or just plain hate AVFC for some reason!
To lead me to this conclusion, I have noticed you pretty much know nunk about football, never mind our glorious Aston Villa Football Club, I haven't ever seen you write anything positive about the club you profess to 'support' and more often that not your kinda rude to anyone that is remotely positive about MON, Lerner, our Players, in fact Aston Villa in general! I genuinely feel sorry for you and your pessimistic attitude, hopefully something or someone will brighten up your life in the near future!
any reason why my last post just got taken off?
i see it ..
refresh. hold down Ctrl in IE Sucks or shift in Firefox Rocks and click reload ;)
Like the discussion going on this page.
I think the reason for this is I agree with both sides...Mon clearly can't buy in the transfer window except cast off english rubbish (NRC,Harewwood,Knight) or really up and coming talent like young which is a gamble that only comes of once every while.
I do think though that tactically and man-mangement wise is one of the top 3 in the premiership.
So Lets get in a european respected big cheese as director of football help attract the players to VP and let MoN do what he does best!!
As for this Zigic guy I rate him and say get him in - not to take away from any other signings but any player in a at the minute can't be bad - plus I think he is more of an out and out striker than just a target man - better finish than anyone we have - remember he was a 15 mill player a year ago - defo worth the punt esp. with ashley on free kicks and our pacey attacks.
This aside I really am annoyed with the summer so far and feel we HAVE been let down. Other clubs at our level have bought quality and we can't even find one right back - pathetic!
I hope to be proved wrong but at the minute I see us signing a couple of average players when we need 10..and finishing about 10th - 12th next season...all the hard work last season and its all going to be thrown away! Spurs, everton, pompy, man city and west ham all have better teams than us at the minute!!!
Hope I'm wrong tho!
UTV
Jinksy and Ak 27 i agree 100% with you both.Im sick to death of people who think that if you have something negative to say you are not a Villa fan. Or worse, if they bandy the term " In MON we trust!" that means they are a better supporter of the club. If anyone mentions the following;
- We have no right back, still
- We have no keeper
- We have a manager who was off making some extra cash for a tv station instead of preparing for the season
- We have been told we are going to strengthen our squad for the upcoming season
- We have been promised " significant transfer funds" (my absolute most hated term, apart from " the MON effect"
- We have not dealt with our captain and longest serving player leaving with any professionalism, both in trying to keep him, or trying to sell him and moving on
they are speaking the truth! How can it be said that everything is sunshine and lolly pops at Villa Park at the moment. How can a "true" Villa supporter not be concerned at the very least with the start to our most important season in the last 10 years? What a disgrace this has been so far, i just hope to god we manage to get through this next match with a win somehow.....
Goldie - you get the images by registering for a 'Gravatar' LINK
The whole process is explained over there :)
milner would be a decent signing but if newcastle start asking for 7-8mil we should walk away, he's not that good, and we could get johnny foreigner in for cheaper, if only MON would have a look and take the risk >:(
johnson would be a brilliant signing has absolutely bags of potential
Martin is playing a very cagey game with his transfer targets. Well that is how it is talked up on here and in the Press. Personally I think he has had some crap signings and he is very nervous about getting anyone in. Are there any more people out there who think that Barry was wrong about saying that our manager should be dealing with business at the Villa. He could have been having meetings with our Chief Scout deciding who they should borrow to play right back this season. He let Lund go back to Sweden and released Paul Green to go to Lincoln and become their best player last season. This at the time when we had the wonderful Bardsley in that position. The biggest dillema he will have on Saturday is whether to play Marlon at Right Back or keep him in reserve in case Taylor gets injured. Truly amazing nothing happening situation at Villa, when we are approaching a game that can give our team a kickstart to the season or become a monkey on our back if we dont. Our last 3 trips into Europe have seen us sent packing by little bits of teams. Sort it out and sort it out quick
i think brad friedel would be a superb signing he is one of the top 10 best ever prem keepers after all... its just very scary watching our makeshift rightbacks getting torn apart .. hopefully mon will start the season with a balanced 1st which he has not had since joining the club
I've made several posts about MON, I still struggle to understand where all this 'great manager' crap comes from. He managed Leicester and Celtic! On an average day when I could be bothered even I could guide Celtic to a good 30 wins a season. Maybe it comes from the fact the media seem to love him and he was almost the England manager, well ok... Graham Taylor actually WAS the England manager, enough said. Storey-Moore is a useless tosser at best, he must have deep brown eyes from all the sh*te he's full of. His idea of world class players is different to say the least, and from the results over the last 2 years I can only believe that he doesn't get out much. MON should not even be in a job after going almost 2 years in the PL without a right back, if he was manager at another club you would be scoffing at him for being a clueless joker. Midfield is still as creative as a blind fella trying out painting by numbers, Agbonlahor is utter useless cack, he is no striker or winger, and he would struggle to make it as a relay sprinter, so why does he play every game. I have read and listened to all MON excuses over his time in charge, he makes me want to throw things at him, he would take the positives out of his dog losing it's back legs in a traffic accident cos he would then tell everybody that at least it doesn't have to lift a leg to pee anymore. I stopped living in a world where Villa will be successfull somewhere around the time Gregory left, and not alot has changed since. Maybe MON is in talks with David O'Dreary about partnering Laursen next season. Lets not rule it out.
ru55k1 - you are completely right - we should have just stuck with o'leary and continued to progress in the direction he wanted to take the club, and every week when we didnt buy a RB we could all relax because he reassured us all that we were actually a shit club where the fans expected too much, and then brought in players that would get us into the CL, like aaron hughes and bardsley
Keep digging moaners.
I love it when you suggest MON should get the sack. Once you make claims like that every sane individual stops reading your nonsense.
Imagine what would happen if MON told everyone who his targets and fall back options were. If we came out and said how much money was available. Prices would sky rocket, other clubs would be p*ssing themselves at our naïvety in the market. MON is doing all the right things, including not having a press conference every morning telling us what he's up to. We, the fans, must just sit back and trust. There's nothing we can do apart from giving whoever is wearing our colours next year our FULL BACKING, and that includes RL, MON, his scouts, the coaching staff and even the General. As whiteknuckle rides go, being a Villa supporter is the best.
ru55k1 your an idiot.
"Agbonlahor is utter useless cack, he is no striker or winger, and he would struggle to make it as a relay sprinter,"
He terorized defenses at times last season but people like you, that don't understand football think "He is a striker, he scores goals."
1.The fact that he will chase a ball knocked over the top that no one else could of got to about 10 times in a game, which then means Laursen will probably get his head onto one of them. If he wasn't playing we would not of got the chances.
2. Towards the end of the season defences had to drop off because they were scared of his pace in behind that meant carew could capitalize and keep them in their half.
You need to understand that Oneil is BUILDING A TEAM. Not just spending 18 million on players that won't fit. Remember i said building not build there is a diffrence we need a rightback and a creative midfielder both we know that Oneil is trying to get. P.S Please get some more original jokes, there making me cringe.
dan123, thank you. Well said sir.
i dont think anyone believes all is rosy and i agree things are worrying we should have had at least a right back before last week our first competative match and one that could have a big say on how we do next season. I know this is not the issue of this page but i feel we can only judge MON on our results from last season and not on who other managers buy at the moment, If you change your squad to much it can be 3 months before the team know each other. like dan123 said we are building a team for the future and the longer they stay together the better they will be
You sound very optimistic about these signings that are coming this week! My money is on one keeper if were lucky but we are still in dire need of a right back and a right midfielder
If Barry is sold this week we could use the money straight away and end up with a keeper, Finnan as part of the deal and Milner.
Talking of Milner I thought he was fantastic for Villa but was unfortunate to be playing in a poor side, now we are much better and with a couple more additions he could really shine.
HARRY REDKNAPP
"Younes Kaboul wants to come here, but I heard Kaboul is going to Villa. I don't think there is anything he can do about it."
news to me? what u think.... apparently SWP's old man has been tellin him to go pompey... no disrespect but what is MON doing. if these players want to choose portsmouth then Villa, Oniel and Lerner are fuckin something up

NO, WE ARE JUST THE SMALL MINORITY THAT CAN BE ARSED TO TALK ABOUT IT ON A BLOG..... EVER BEEN ON VITAL VILLA???? VILLA TALK????
LOT MORE THAN YOU MIGHT THINK, AND BELIEVE YOU ME, THEY ARE NOT HAPPY EITHER.
PERSONALLY I THINK MON HAS DONE NOTHING FOR US APART FROM WASTE MONEY THAT HE DOESNT WANT TO SPEND.
ALL THE SHIT WE BOUGHT WILL GO ON FREE'S OR FOR NO MONEY!!
1 OR 2 PURE LUCK SIGNINGS DOES NOT TRANSLATE TO A GOOD MANAGER BUILDING... IT EQUALS A MANAGER THAT IS TOO TIGHT TO SPEND ON A PROVEN PLAYER AND SPEND A FUCKIN RISKY 10 MILL ON YOUNG WHEN IT COULD HAVE GONE OH SO WRONG. DONT GET ME WRONG, CAREW IS GOOD BUT IF YOU COMPARE HIM TO ANY STRIKER IN THE PREM, MAN CITY, MANU, CHELSKI, ARSE-NAL SPURS, POMPEY AND EVEN MORE... HE REALLY ISNT GOOD ENOUGH FOR WHERE WE WANT TO BE. YES HE SCORED A FEW GOALS BUT ANY STRIKER FROM ABOVE MENTIONED CLUBS WOULD HAVE DONE JUST AS MUCH.
IT REALLY DOES MAKE ME SO ANGRY SOMETIMES..... I WONDER IF THIS WASNT JUST A GOOD THING FOR LERNER AND HIS VERY CHARITABLE NATURE APART FROM SPENDING HIS MONEY WHERE HE SHOULD BE INSTEAD OF INVESTING IN HIS CITIZENSHIP / PERMANENT RESIDENCY. OH AND MAKEING THE HUGE SUMS OF MONEY THAT HE IS WITH DISCRIMINATING AGAINST THE YOUNG AND DISABLED FANS WITH PRICES, SPONSORSHIPS. GIVING A FEW MILL AWAY TO LOOK GOOD WITH ACORNS DOESNT WASH IT FOR ME. FOR THE MAN THAT SAID
"IM NOT IN IT FOR MONEY. IF I WAS I WOULD NOT BE BUYING A FOOTBALL CLUB"
A SMELL ZEE BULLSHIT. PERHAPS HE COMES IN IN FANCY DRESS AND PROMISSES EVERYTHING TO MANIPULATE EVERYTHING AWAY FROM HIM. NO WONDER HE DOESNT WANT TO BE IN THE PRESS.....HIS FANCY DRESS NAME......
P.R KRULAK
Top 6, of course the fans are doubting, there is nnothing coming from the PR machine at VP that we can grab hold of. This is warfare, we don't tell the enemy where we are, where we're going, and what we are armed with. We are going to be in the dark until something actually happens, bloody frustrating I know. Do you remember the euphoria when RL came in as owner, the jubilation that Doug's last move was to get in MON? How has the club done in that time? Give them a chance before calling for their heads. If they do manage to f*ck it all up I will be first in the queue to lop off their bonces - believe me!
lol, well said...
deffo looks like we pinching Koboul from spurs
would be nice to go back in with a big bid for bentley now that spurs got rejected.
what u think about this 6'7" giant from Valencia for $5.... not two carews'
i agree with the comments about MON only being comfortable buying british. every foriegn player we are linked with never comes off, always in favour of an average british player.
portsmouth are getting the type of player that they should not have a sniff off if Villa wanted them, but MON is only used to buying smalltime, this shows with bentley, one offer! what! we went in with best offer, held nothing back and now we are not interested!
he has had a couple of decent buys, but in all MON is useless in the transfer market. no team in prem. need players like we do, but nothing! and the right back situation is way beyond a joke!
We are going to have morealess and full english squad apart from maybe two or three players
So how on gods living earth are guna be able to do anything if the english national squad cant do anything
Yes we got laursen yes we got petrov bouma and now maybe zigic but really is that enough ? Shouldnt we be looking at top quality foreign lads
Doud ellis hated spending money and what dose he do before he leaves gets a manager that hates spending money doug has the last laugh not us
top 6 villa - portsmouth benefits from the gravitational pull of the isle of wight meaning that they get more hours of sunshine per day on average than anywhere else in the UK ;D
or it might just be that all of these players can still live in laandan town and travel to training, rather than live in brum, personally i dont think that pompey are doing anything revolutionary and harry for england was an utter joke
I'd take Milner over Bentley any day, Bentley undoubtably has great talent, but will he keep his head up when thing ain't going well. Milner has great work ethic and is a go getter like Young.
A RB is essential, can't understand how we've gone so long without buying even a half-decent one.
Finnan would be OK if it means we can put an end to this boring Barry saga. Let him go MON before he really disrupts the club. New midfielders needed, and a PACY forward who will turn defences and score (unlike Gabby) got pace, can score when he feels like it, but needs to do more than just run a a defence, and then hit a brick wall.(prime example at the weekend, didn't cross when he should have) We should have sold him to Arsenal when he was linked last January. Villa to beat Odense 4-1 on Saturday. Will be watching on Setanta North America
COME ON YOU VILLA
Oh god, I'm getting as pessimistic as you whingeing bast*rds.
But only because of the sh*t that you write.
Look at the bloody facts, FFS, we finished 6th last season!
I'm sure if we had won the league, most of you would have been moaning that it wasn't by enough points.
It's utterly laughable.
One thing I will say is I saw my first game against Bournemouth in the old division 3. If the Villa fans then had the same attitude as you load of pr*cks, I'll tell you now, AVFC would have gone bust, fact.
You get behind the club if you're a real fan and if you can't do that, I'd suggest you all f*ck off.
I really despair and am beginning to wonder why I read this.
Jinksy, you talk utter sh*te mate and I'm now convinced you're a nose, so as far as I'm concerned, I'll just ignore your utterly tripe postings from now on. You know jack about football mate.
Sorry Damian, but IMO this needs saying.
I'm all for constructive criticism, but to suggest the likes of sack the manager and the board, needs repelling, big time.
I'd suggest it's costing you potential posters too, FWIW.
And to be honest, you ought to be clamping down on it a bit.
Do you really want this to be known as the whingers blog?
