Dont get me wrong, I would love us to sign Bentley and think we have a pretty good chance. But nowhere does the general in any way confirm a bid is in. I believe you are reffering to "4. Signings: Continue to watch..." Would love to be wrong but I think you are jumping the gun |

That is definitely a confirmation from the General. We've bid more than £10m which is good. It also states other clubs have made bids too. |

I'll get into trouble for this but General Krulak is the PR guy for Randy Lerner at Aston Villa. He is a non-executive director of the club. |

Welcome to avfcblog Neil. The General is an employee of AVFC, I don't know his precise job title (or description for that matter). He basically goes onto another villa chat site to answer some fans' questions. I don't think that his remarks are officially sanctioned by the club. But hey what the heck it's better than nowt! |

General Charles Krulak, wikipedia him, he's part of the villa board, randys mate from MBNA, he used to be head of the marines, wrote the text book that US marines get on their first day and he writes on several villa msg boards answering many fans questions, my last one too him was would villa get officially licensed on pro evo - to which he said we are in talks! he also helps people get signed stuff for sick relatives, sort out dodgy tickets etc hes half way to being a leg end IMO |

Saw Bentley on skysports a few weeks back when he did an interview stating his desire to move on. When pressed on the matter he didn't specifically say he wanted to move to a current Top 4 club, but to a club that he could develop and become a better player. Its interesting to see us linked with him, personally speaking I think he is happy to develop an affiliation with MON foremost and A.Villa second. Maybe this is astute thinking on his behalf when it comes to his England career i.e. there is a better chance of MON managing the national team in the future than Ramos or Benitez.. So if it comes to personal decisions and Bentley then maybe we have a better chance of landing him than we think.  |

I really do think he will go to tottenham, it probably would be a sideways step for him, I always consider tottenham to be a bit of a joke really. He just seems to be the sort of player who will pick them over us, so not getting my hopes up yet. |

£10m???? Howell really is stupid! First of all MON knopws he is worth more than that and Rovers want £17m for him anyway. Either its a load of crap (hopefully not) or someone has made up £10m its pointless putting in a bid for that. Sidwell and Bentley signing within a few days of each other would be amazing!! UTV! |

He is now retracting as fast as an Italian tank (to use a military metaphor - if the Italians had a military that is), or retreating as fast as his webbed feet can carry him (well known fact - marines have webbed feet). Whatever he says - the cat is out of the bag, an offer in excess of £10mn has gone in from us for Bently. |

With regards the Bently rumoured £10m bid, if it's true it's a crap offer. In fact it sounds even worse than what Rafa's been trying to do with the Barry saga! I hope it's MON's way of offering low to make the other teams value Bently lower and thenMON can come in with a realistic bid and match Blackburns valuation. After all, MON has valued Barry at a certain price and has said he damands that to be met, so how can he expect to do the same as Rafa's been doing! If he is doing Rafa's tactics then please don't MON, it makes you look bad. Just get a good offer in and get him signed today! |

Just looking at villa squad list on sky. We have 5 recognised defenders, and for example spurs have 15! Does anyone else find this slightly worrying!? I know we are in the process of getting a right back and prob bringing in Anton. But that would still only make 7 IF we got them.
