With most of the talk focused on what players are coming in, it's easy to forget that in a little over two weeks we're playing European football - a date where we'd hope to see quite a few of these new signings.
But before and after we sign all these players, there are some other dates worth putting in your diary.
We start with the kit launch on July 7th at Brindleyplace, where we'll all get to see the new home and away shirt for next season, before the club launch a third kit in October or November, just in time for Christmas.
Joking aside, it might turn out to be a fun afternoon; go if you can.
Onto football now and our pre-season is pretty much confirmed and I wouldn't expect to see any more fixtures added prior to Manchester City at Villa Park on August 16th.
Pre-Season Schedule
July 12th - 4.00pm
FC Zurich (away)
July 15th - 7.45pm
Lincoln City (away)
July 19th or 20th
Intertoto Cup (away leg) Villa face TPS Turku from Finland or Odense BK from Denmark
July 22nd - 7.45pm
Walsall (away)
July 26th or 27th
Intertoto Cup (home leg)
August 2nd - 3.00pm
Reading (away)
So, there you have it, some dates for your diary. If anything else gets added, which while unlikely, is possible, we'll let you know.

Message to Martin O'Neill
I may be pushing 40, a little greying at the edges and not as fit as I used to be but Martin; If you don't decide to sign anyone before the 12th of July which is looking increasingly likely I would like to say that I am available to play.
Unfortunately though I will be on holiday for both legs of the first round of the Intertoto Cup.
By the way I have a great left foot and tend to be described as a solid and technically gifted player with vision, if you require someone with those type of skills in midfield.
Cheers Darryl
Sign that Darryl fella up - could be the new Gareth Barry - in fact better as Darryl may actually have some pace!! ;) ;) ;) Also I doubt he would be a turncoat and judas ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) der der der nigel reo coker der der der ball across the floor ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
Darryl sounds like a good play to me Mr O,neil may be a little old but we do need players, what time dose the away intoto cup game kick off and is it on t.v.?
O'Neill will not be signing anybody before August 31st 2009 he has revealed today in 'Lap it up' magazine. He did however say he was keeping tabs on an exciting prospect, but is much too expensive to sign at the moment, his wife has banned him from making offers for players she deems overpriced. I'm excited by the prospect of seeing Darryl patrolling the midfield next season, I just hope he doesn't break the Vp wage structure, otherwise he's doomed.
I think we should all get the dubin out and lace are boots up and turn up for Training.
MON will love the fact that he doesn't have to do any homework and Villa can save money on sending out their none existant scouts ....
Please can somebody tell me who is our chief scout?
Ben Richards - Our chief scout is none less than the tooth fairy. No wonder we never seem to have cash spare...
