I like a rumour about a player I've never heard of, it gives it some kind of interest and even credibility.

Today's new goalkeeper rumour is from Sky Sports, who can be quite hit and miss but always unearth some player link you won't get anywhere else.

Step forward 18-year-old Sergio Asenjo, the Real Valladolid goalkeeper. Apparently he's got a buy-out clause of €5.5m (£3.3m approx) and he's played 22 games this season.

He turns 19 next month (can you tell I've been on Wikipedia?) and only conceded 1 goal in his first 5 appearances for Valladolid.

He sounds quite promising but apart from what Wikipedia tells me I don't really know much about him. If he's as good as he sounds then he could be a better bet than Scott Carson.

I had a look at the news links to this player on sky sports.com and apparently Barcelona and Everton and a couple of other 'top'ish clubs were interested! If he did sign for us, it'd be one for the future, as i think 18 years old is a little too young to be playing regular Prem and Eurooean football! Sounds a better bet than Carson though!

He's made a few mistakes here and there but that's to be expected from an 18year old. With a better team behind him(Villa) he could go far.
