Berger says sorry, but the damage is done and he's dropped

Following his comments the other day, Patrik Berger, who really probably doesn't care one way or the other, will not be included in the squad that travel to West Ham this weekend.

Martin O'Neill has told the club web site that he was disappointed with the comments Berger made and surprised.

I was really disappointed and surprised that Patrik, with all his experience of dealing with the press, would make such an inappropriate comment.

"The sad aspect of it is that we are paying Patrik's wages for him to recommend one of our players to another football club. It's ludicrous.

"I think Pat realises that now and he's apologised. He said he didn't mean a great deal of harm but the harm's been done and he won't be playing any part in proceedings from here on in."

I cant say I'm surprised at the action taken by Martin O'Neill as I suggested it might happen and I don't think it will have an impact on the game, so it's really a nothing story, but nice to see that action was taken.

Spot on, Berger has been a bit of a problem child most places hes been but to my memory this is the first time hes played up at the Villa, he doesn't really have the right to be bitter, it's not Villa's fault hes spent most of his time on the treatment table!

I'll be glad to see the back of him, why is he always trying to score from so far out? He never does!

ive seen berger many times this season in the reserves and he even looks a poor player playing against kids and premiership rejects. why he has been coming off the bench these past few games i do not know, his performance saturday was simply awfull that wild shot (as usual) he had towards the end of the game was shocking. not to mention the 3 times he gave the ball away needlessly allowing wigan to counter attack. luckily we had big olfo back there to cover, and i for one will be glad to see the back end of him, another poor o'leary buy why we were ever having portsmouth rejects i do not know. the damage is done now berger has talked up liverpool to be the greatest club to play for in the world??

Good, Berger can go F**k off, 8 starts in 3 years, total disgrace, he played maybe 2 good games at the end of last season and managed to mug us off with a new 1yr contract. His comments were a joke, how can you be contracted to a club and say your arguably best player should leave, Hopefully O'Neill will fine this prick and then he can go back to the Czech Republic. WASTE OF SPACE

Nothing's a waste of space when you have a tiny team like ours hopefully next season we will probley see diffrent players instead of the same team after team after team and maybe a few fresh ideas to instead playing the long ball for carew or spreading the ball wide to young smilies/smiley.gif
