Ten minutes with, the legend that is, Olof Mellberg
Written by Damian
Tuesday, 29 April 2008

It's his last game at Villa Park in claret and blue this weekend and I've got a sneaky feeling that he's going to get a pretty big send off.

To put the icing on the cake of this website for this season, we've been given the green light, by the man himself, to ask him a few questions and seeing as I'll have difficulty coming up with them all by myself, I'm asking for some help.

Basically were going to use the same format as we did for the likes of John Gregory, who incidentally put Mellberg down as his best ever signing and Ian Taylor, so all we want are your questions.

The questions can be about anything you want and the best few, for whatever reasons, will be put to him when everything is arranged, but please try to make the questions as original as possible and also factor in that we've not got long with him, so if your question is likely to force a five minute answer, it probably won't get used.

You can ask your question below or you could This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and email them to me, which I'd much prefer and sometime in the near future, we'll publish the answers.

Also, if you haven't already, click here to download your Olof Mellberg A4 flag for this weekend.

Also, if your comment isn't a question and goes off in another direction, it's going to be deleted today. Not done this before, but I'm not having this post turn into anything other than questions.

I'd like to know if Olof is interested in going into coaching and possibly management, and whether he sees himself coming back to Villa Park in the future with a role similar to those?

Olof, would you ever consider returning to Villa in a coaching role or the like?

Olof
Thanks for all your professionalism, skill, and loyalty. You have been a great player for Villa and will surely go down in our hall of fame!
I think most fans understand why you are leaving and wish you the best of luck at Juventus, you will be missed.

Question: If you had a choice of which defender would best replace you (from any team, anywhere), who would it be?

Question: Who is your favourite Villa defender of all time?

Regards and best wishes

Mellberg has recently spoken about maybe one day coming back to Villa as a coach too, so it's quite clear he loves the club. "Would I like to come back to Villa as a coach? If you would have asked me a few years ago I would have definitely said no to staying within football.

"But I'm more interested in it now. I watch more football now and certainly follow it more than I used to so it is a possibility. It would be nice to coach at Villa."
