| I have to say i thought petrov played brilliantly again today, against much better opposition, I dont think i could have handled it if they scored again! we can still do this, comon arsenal and newcastle (never thought i'd EVER cheer newcastle on) WE CAN DO IT! UTV! |

Watching that match seriously was not good for the heart. Or the throat, for that matter; I've nearly lost my voice. But MAN am I proud of villa today, we never give up and it's just brilliant. Even though we didn't play too well we picked up a point at a ground where not many get a result. I loved the look on Lescott's face when Carew made it 2-2. We had the last laugh, this is a much better result for us than it is for Everton. |

We all wanted three points, no doubt. But going behind twice away from home and coming back to take a point---in a critical game--shows real character. We'll all keep our fingers crossed. Will we finish 5th? Who knows? Maybe not. But we've had a good season even if we don't. We hit a rough patch but have come to play in the business part of the season when we've needed results. |

| Its always better coming back than loosing the lead thats for sure! How many free kicks did we give away when the ball was in the air? Ridiculous. The ref was calling everything and anything so we have to learn to go for the ball. Carew, Laursen and Knight are head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch, go for the bloody ball, rather than pull ( midget Leon Osmans)shirts etc.......Well take the point, Pompey went down also, not a bad day at the office... |

| Well i think we went for the win today, but not in the same way as against Small heath. Today was all about nicking a goal it was Everton who had to try and break us... And as we saw they could'nt..!! I'm working in Stockholm for a month, so i'm going to the wigan game with the Villa Sweden supporters club. So watch out for their flag... |

Everton's back line stood up really well...But I was pleased to see that when we needed the goals we could go get them. Cagey match until the 1st goal. Might have well have been different if the bits of luck (Young's free kick vs. the Neville deflection) had been switched, but a fair result, and the team did themselves proud. Really good to see they didn't hang their heads, and the substitutions were positive. Villa showed that they'll deserve 5th if they get it. I think it favors us in the end, and I'd almost rather have it set up this way, than being even on points after today. I wonder if Villa won't play better chasing 5th than defending it. |

Well done the boys today, showed a lot of grit in what was a very nervy last 10-15mins. Too often we have conceded in the last minute, but not this time Thought Petrov did well today, but a real shame to see how often the team resorted to the long ball. I dont really recall many period of decent passing on the floor from us. Lumping it to Carew was never going to work, he was well marked and the ref was calling him for everything. Plus, Gabbys movement wasnt there today, so the flicks were never really on. Credit for his goal though - well taken. Looking at the fixtures, I still think we can make 5th place -- forget about the Intertoto, we need to have european football in the bag from day 1 of the transfer window, to attract the kind of players we need. Up the villa!! |

@Jaf I think that comment about Mellberg is below the belt. Its not as if he is in the prime of his playing days and has left us for the cash. He is very close to retiring and deserves one final pay day. Also what has he won in his playing career, he deserves some glory and I dont think he will get this before he retires at Villa. He has stuck with us through the bad times when he could have left for other clubs. He has been one of our most consistent players and he should be respected. Great result for us today, although i find it strange that some of the media outlets (ITV teletext most obviously) seem to think that this was a good result for Everton. They have a tricky run in and not many would expect them to pick up more than 3 points from their final 2 games yet the headline I read was "Toffees net euro boost" I dont see how a draw is anymore favourable to them than us. They are the home team who had the lead twice, if anything they will feel upset not to have all 3 points. Anyway back to us, the fight for 5th is back on in a big way and its great to see Gabby bagging a few goals at a vital time. He now has 11 PL goals and Carew has 13. Those are both very good tallys and considering Carew was out for about 2 months in total of this season with abit of help he could well hit the 20 mark next season. A goal poacher would still be more than welcome though. Hopefully we can get 6 points from our last two games and take 5th, if not Intertoto would be very good indeed. |

Not the dream result we all wanted but hey, a point away at Everton in a quite entertaining game and Pompey got done (Santa Cruz again). Not too bad a day if we're honest. Villa didn't play as good as they can today (imo) but i thought we gave as good as we got against a ref assisted Everton ! Phil Neville is a comedy footballer if ever i saw one, watch his "goal" on motd later. When we passed it short to feet we we're rockin but i felt Reo had his work cut out a bit today and worked hard but didn't really make a mark. That long ball does work though at times and Carew must be one of the best target men if you play that game, he's immense ! Interesting end of the season i think UP THE VILLA |

we have the momentum and the easier run in so its on for 5th ash didnt seem to play the same floating role as he has been and fair play to moyes i havent seen someone outplay carew like carsley did all season, so creatively we werent brilliant but barry, petrov and NRC before his nightmare marking job all played well |

i still feel bouma and reo-coker need replacing. they just arent good enough for this level, and definitly not 4 the level we want to be at. i wish i was as confident as some that everton wont pick up 4 points in their last 2 games, but i guess we just have 2 make sure we do our bit and pick up 6 |

also i feel petrov isnt the greatest defensively and we got a little carried awway with his performances against muck opposition in the last 3 games. his goaline clearance was great, but 4 the equaliser he was caught in no mans land wen he should have been on carley who was again immense. the same point 4 carew, he was simply outplayed by sum1 a foot taller than him for practically the whole game, and really should be offering more. i no i no, he scored a v important goal, but really if he didnt score 2day with the quality and quantity of ball coming into the box today that were sloppily dealt with, he should have been castrated... |

Hat's off to MON for the attacking changes, although did we need to wait for the last 10 minutes untill we 'try' to score 2 goals? Didn't catch the game, but a better result for us surely with the comeback and our last two games? I would like feedback - Do people see us winning 6 points from Wigan and West Ham? I think and hope so. Everton have MUCH tougher games. |

Great result today - I really believe that we will get fifth place now. I expect Arsenal to beat Everton at the Emirates. The team spirit today was immense that is credit to our manager and captain - who once again was majestic. If Barry does not get in the premiership team of the season (named tonight) there is something wrong. Andy Gray did an article this week with Barry in his team of the season, so at least some people know what they are talking about. Up the Villa - in Martin O'Neill we trust! |

I disagree that Gabby looked tired. For long stretches during this game, we simply failed to get the ball up to him or to Carew. By the way, I hope that we buy Carson. Like everyone else, I don't want to pay 10 million. I hope Liverpool acts realistic, allowing a deal to be worked out for a reasonable fee. Carson isn't the finished product, we all know that. But he has begun to regain the confidence that might have left him earlier in the season. He made some decent saves today (although he still can improve on crosses). |

| I've posted on here a few times and always say the same thing. My best mate's a Villa fan and after every game I text him to say lucky again. Everton were denied 1 obvious penalty and 1 possible penalty, although it would of been harsh. Villa always seem to get offside decisions for and against, penalty decisions for and against and you haven't had an injury all season. Jammy as hell!!! |

Villa once again showed that they can compete not only with the bottom reaches of the league, but the top 5 teams, and although we only achieved a draw, the circumstances under which we got the draw should be admired. Our push for europe has taken a very big dent today, but it is not over by any means. Everton will not get a result away at arsenal, and on record and current performances, Villa should beat Wigan at home. This will leave villa in 5th place by goal difference. The last game of the season is going to be the most anxious game i have been to no doubt, i wil be checking the everton newcastle score every ten seconds. We just have to make sure that we get a result at west ham away on the last game of the season. Villa for life. Up the villa! Adam Hackett |

NO, they carried on playing, went straight up and scored. |

Big Andy, there's always one twat like you who pops up on a weekly basis who spouts some nonsensical drivel. Usually it's a thick blues fan, but it seems you share more than the same colours. Actually there are more similarities than that, like blues you are the 2nd best team in your city with a group of over achieving average players who have ground out dull 1-0's all season. If you check your facts and look back at the results over the past 2 seasons you'll find you have not beaten Villa in the league, you'll also find that our average attendance figures are higher than ever, we'd have had more than 37,936 at that game yesterday, in fact you'll find that our average attendance is higher than yours. So why don't you toddle along like a good little scouser, pop that shell suit i the wash and go pick up your Giro, you bell end. Come back in 2 weeks after you have been spanked by Arsenal and lost to Blackburn… UTV |

Yeah get it right. I'm going to be positive about everything, us villa fans are very fast to criticise lets face it and be negative. Look how far we have come in just two seasons. I am very confident we will still get 5th. Martin O'neill wont accept anything less. Have faith in him and the team. Next year will be our year to shine in europe and the league. Villa for life. Up the villa. Also...does anybody have to travel more than 200 miles to home villa matches and have a season ticket. I want to see who is the furthest travveling villa supporter this season, i have a season ticket and live in torbay in devon. I have also been to 13 of the away games and am goign to west ham. Am i in the top travveled fans. Let me know on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |

Just wanted to say thanks for a great game. Both teams really showed that there is real competition in the league outside the Top 4 and if we both spent a few more quid in the transfer window we could both break the cartel of Chelsea, United etc. The match was very entertaining once the second half had begun. I personally am sceptical about Carew, correct me if I'm wrong, but once he is found out he seems to offer very little to the team in terms of movement. He is just a Big Man upfront. Having said that I do think you have quality across the pitch apart from your full backs at the moment. Wasn't Bouma a CB before? Anyway, good luck with the end of the season. I know people say we will lose at Arsenal, but I'd like to think a point is realistic considering Derby managed to score against them! Both of us will be in Europe either way next season- back where we belong. Good luck and enjoy the end of the season. |
