Sometimes these things happen and we, mostly me, forget to write about it and mostly because it happened the night of the first Champions League semi-final and again, mostly or probably because of the beer and ouzo consumed watching a pretty good match.
Well, seeing as I'm feeling much more like myself and despite trying to take the day off to celebrate St George's Day, I've decided to give it a mention, because it's a pretty impressive feat.
Now, managers like Paul 'Is It Recording' Jewell, may not like the reserve league, but make no mistake, each team in it wanted to win it and the reserve league is an important part of Aston Villa Football Club, just ask Patrik Berger.
The reserves didn't actually have to play to win it last night also, they've won because Reading drew with Portsmouth and now the Villa team can not be caught.
So, a big congratulations to all involved from everyone here at the Aston Villa Blog and no doubt all the visitors and contributors.
Reserve team coahc Kevin MacDonald was in jubilant mood last night telling the club site "I'm really pleased for the young lads - they've won the Academy league already this season and now they've got the reserve title.
"But I also have to pay tribute to the senior players who've really played their part for us this season. The likes of Patrik Berger, Marlon Harewood, Stuart Taylor, Moustapha Salifou and more recently Wayne Routledge have been a credit to the football club".
The team now face Liverpool in the play-off final on May 7 at Anfield.
