There really hasn't been much going on the last few days to write about that you wouldn't have got on every other website so we've not done anything - however a few things interest me and I woke with an opinion.
First to Stiliyan Petrov and Martin O'Neill has been talking about why he left him out against Reading. Apparently he's not right in the head and needs to get himself sorted out - if he delivers half as much as Martin O'Neill think he can then I think we've got him the chance.
We're all football pundits these days and some of you that leave a comment here or in the forum sometimes get it so spot on that it still surprises me that I didn't see it but with Petrov, I think a lot of us are getting it wrong.
First off, is Martin O'Neill a mug? He's not and he's clearly got a thing for Petrov so maybe it's a case of it will happen and we have to be patient. A buddy who watches a lot of Celtic told me a while ago that it took Petrov a season - maybe it's going to take him two at Villa because it's a proper league - either way, maybe we should just get behind him when he gets back?
Some bits in short; Mr O'Neill is hoping that Mr Mellberg is back for Arsenal this weekend, Ashley Young was voted as Man of the Match on the official club site. Patrik Berger is back to full fitness and Martin O'Neill is hoping he can make the same impact he did last season and the gaffer doesn't mind if Barry continues to take the penalties.
The gaffer told the club site "Yes I'm happy for him to continue. As he went up to take it his foot slipped away. It is not a problem for me."
Moving onto the club site for a moment and I know I have a pop at it every now and then but I feel we have a responsibility to. Phil Mepham probably thinks of me and this site as just a pain in the neck but if I could get ten minutes with him I'd buy a big fresh fish and continually slap him around the face with it until he understood the concept of the internet and keeping the club site up to date.
Phil Mepham clearly just sees this as a part of his job and something that isn't of any importance. It's taken all season to get the reserve and youth team league tables on the club site and to put it bluntly, it's just a let down. But I'm not really surprised - most of the site is a let down.
They're a let down because all they show is matches played and points picked up. Now, some of you will say at least it's something and you'd be the chap that always thinks your glass is half full.
I'm the guy that thinks my glass is half empty and I think it's just another poor job done with no thought or effort by the media department. Why can't we see the full table with goals scored, conceded, home and away?
They have gone and got themselves another C; done just enough to get by but could have done so much more.
I just wish they'd try to exceed expectations once in a while and put a little effort into something, rather than pass of this always half done job off to us.
Everything else is bloody excellent at the moment and as an Aston Villa fan we really couldn't be asking for much more in terms of the football, but the club site remains rubbish. As the biggest critic to the club site and one day biggest friend, that was my monthly moan.
Right, I'm sure they'll be some more news over the next few days but if you've got anything to say, put it below or in the forum.
