Carson, Davies, Barry, Young and Gabby all in the England squad

If you wanted to be impressed this should do it. The five players above are in the first England squad picked by Fabio Capello.

I wasn't surprised to find out about Carson and Young but the other three have put a smile on my face. Wouldn't it be great to see all five of them start the match too!

It's further proof of what a good job Martin O'Neill is doing at Villa that we should have five picked and long may it continue.

The full squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: David James, Scott Carson, Chris Kirkland.
Defenders: Wayne Bridge, Ashley Cole, Curtis Davies, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, Nicky Shorey, Wes Brown, Joleon Lescott, Micah Richards, Jonathan Woodgate, Matthew Upson.
Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Steven Gerrard, Jermaine Jenas, Owen Hargreaves, Garry Barry, Joe Cole, Stewart Downing, Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, David Bentley.
Forwards: Wayne Rooney, Emile Heskey, Michael Owen, Peter Crouch, Gabriel Agbonlahor,

I was just gonna write something about this. Great news for the lads.
Just heard this minute on Setanta "breaking news" that Portsmouth have agreed a fee with Spurs for Jermaine Defoe and it is now up to the player !!!

I'd like to place a bet though that within 10 comments one of them will be of someone moaning about it!

I'm actually disappointed that Nigel Reo-Coker wasn't included in our handful of players, but i think it's only a matter of time before that changes.

out of all the shocks that could of happened i really didnt see that! i thought it would be RC (but im glad he's not), and seeing as woodgate is supposedly injured again his chance of making the cut just got better

i just hope gabby makes saturdays cut, he deserves his chance IMO

Not surprised apart from Curtis Davies, thought Capello may overlook him but apparently not. Bit disappointed about Reo Coker though, but I think he has areas of his game to work on first. I just hope Owen doesn't make the starting 11 because he hasn't earned it with recent performances IMO.

Shorey, Downing, King, Heskey, Owen, Woodgate, Upson,Johnson, Bridge .there is no way any of these have done enough to earn a call up

im well chuffed with the call up but my only concern is with the injury side of it, plus gabby looks fooked at villa park so playing more games will only add to this. i hope they all have a great game and do villa proud. utv
