Poll Results: Majority want Cahill to stay at Aston Villa

We don't always publish the results of polls we run but sometimes we need to. In this particular one, I said I would yesterday.

The poll was created on the back of the story that Birmingham City wanted Gary Cahill and the results are as expected.

Over 70% don't want Gary Cahill to leave and just over 10% are not that bothered. Most don't want him to leave because most think he's a great defender with bags of potential.

Wherever Cahill has gone on loan he's done well and with Mellberg potentially leaving in the summer some feel it wouldn't be the best time to let the lad go.

You voted, along with a few Birmingham City fans who clicked on the 'sell him', and the results are clear. Let's just see what happens.

Blues don't have that many fans so they didn't influence the decision too much.

I wouldn't which small-minded idiot thought it would be a good idea to rig the poll and what benefit they thought it would bring? Small Heath fools.

By doing this deal we will be helping the blues stay up surely our aim is to help send them down :P

^ Birmingham will go down even if Cahill does join them.

It's definitely bad news. He isn't the best defender but if Mellberg leaves then at the least he is back-up. Unless O'Neill has some replacements lined up? .. I hope so.

In fact, probably need a few more defenders before the Liverpool match tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to the prospect of Torres!

I Don't want the Blues relegated because i enjoy the derby days it's something to look forward to if there's no cup run.

Villa should be trying to hang on to their young developing players not sell them I don,t have a problem with young players going out on loan to gain experience but we should be trying to add to a squad which is one of the smallest in the premiership

its off the subject but why has Oneil now told us he has no interest in defoe. Why not say this back in the summer when everyone said he was interested.

Chrisodon, tough one isn't it? We want them to go down, but then we miss the derbies. There really aren't enough midlands clubs in the prem, it's all northern and southern, like a sandwich with no filling (apart from us of course). I would like to see Wolves, Baggies, Coventry, Forest, Leicester, Derby, Stoke all in the prem, at the cost of Fulham, Wigan, Sunderland, Boro, Newcastle, I've run out of options. But you get my drift I hope.
