Knight appeal rejected and Luke Moore off to Glasgow Rangers

Zat Knight has had his red card appeal rejected and I for one am actually quite surprised.

While I can understand the reasons why a penalty was given I think everyone and his uncle can see that there was no intent to bring down cheating Michael Ballack.

If anything and I've watched it a few times now, Ballack was looking for a reason to fall in the box. Had the same incident happened on the half way line with just a few seconds to go, I'd quite fancy Ballack would have stayed on his feet and if he hadn't then they'd have been no card.

In other news, or actually gossip, one of the papers is suggesting today that Glasgow Rangers are interested in taking Luke Moore on loan for the rest of the season. The same paper then suggests that Martin O'Neill would rather sell. I'll find the source and link to it, but it surprised me.

I'd quite fancy seeing Luke given a proper run first, but you never know with Martin O'Neill - I'm guessing now, but I reckon it takes a lot to change his mind once it's made and I think it's made up with Luke.

Right, gossip and news out of the way, it's now time for a beer. Catch you lot tomorrow.

There is absolutely no point appealing. The FA reject every appeal, and the ban always remains. It's happened alot recently with players being harshly dismissed, but accepting an appeal and removing the ban is a sign of weekness... so it simply doesn't happen!... All the more reason to bring in a new system and make sure important decisions are made correcttly.

As for luke.. not sure. I'd rather he was our 3rd choice striker ahead of harewood.. just because he's younger and therefore hold s more promise. But assuming we bring in a striker, let him out on loan to a top club for the remainder of the season and lets see him fight his cause for a place at Villa.

Its nothing to do with MON, Luke himself has said he wants to move on.

Agreed, Paulo, I can't remember seeing a decision being overturned, because the FA always back up their refs, and it's no suprise to me. That, and the fact that Zat was the last man, and if the pen was going to be given, then i agree the sending off was always going to follow. It's the letter of the law.
Luke Moore is a good player, but a player that i won't be shedding any tears over losing. We always want a great striker at the club, and if we are ever going to get one, we need to let go of the deadwood. Joachim was deadwood, Vassell was deadwood, and i think we can stick Moore into the same group. Unfortunately, when we got rid of those players, we never really did buy anyone great...perhaps if MON sorts that out this January no one will notice Luke Moore leaving. That being said, he's a good kid, he tries hard and i can't say he's ever let us down. Good luck to him if he does leave.

at least Cole's appeal was rejected too. Not sure what the point of the appeals process is really, the FA will never admit a ref got it wrong!

No surprise there, the FA is a joke. Both appeals should have been approved IMO.

I agree with Paulo the F.A never overturns red cards so weren really no point in appealing. Im glad that Davies should be starting against Wigan beacuse i thought he did well wen coming on against Chelsea and i rate him above Knight anyday. As for Moore i woulden be to bothered if we got rid of him beacuse i only class him as a squad player and not a major part of the Villa team, but only if we get a replacement in before hand.

I am a Ramgers fan and I would like to see someone like Moore coming to Ibrox and developing as we dont have the same money at our disposal in Scotland and players like him dont get the same chance to florish. If I had my choice of young stricker at the moment I would be going for the young boy Campbell that is on loan to Hull from Manchester United he looks a real talent, I have seen him play 4 or 5 times this season and he looks sharp and has lots of raw talent. I guess SIR FURIOUS wouldnt fancy selling such a talent.

But Damian..MON offered Luke a new deal and it was Luke himself that rejected it, so O'Neill clearly wants Moore at Villa Park, but he no longer has the option to keep him.

obviously we were gonna get rejected for the appeal. we are not manchester united and we dont have that filthy parasite fergie blasting and contesting every decision that goes against us.

Luke wants to go and he will never be more than a sqad player. Not sure we need to replae him we score more goals than most teams in the prem and our conversion rate of chances to goals is rightup with the best, so why buy another striker. We need more quality on the right hand side of defense and midfield sort that and we will be heading for europe.

Dave Kitson he has been getting goals in the prem so he might start hitting the back of the net week in week out. okay he is slow but with gabby alongside him pace isnt really the problem.
