Sometimes, there is some great poetry about the Premier League.
Never more than now. Villa have won four in a row, three of those away from home. And the "for and against" till is showing a healthy balance.
The Somersetvillan hasn't been seen on these pages for months, presumably because he can't find enough to whine about. Even Taglor's smiling at the moment, as Marlon banged the last goal in just for him at Ewood.
But are we any good?
The silent poetry of the Premier League pits us against Arsenal at the very time we are starting to believe in ourselves. So the Premier League is asking the big question of O'Neill and Villa: are you really that good, or are you all mouth and no trousers?
Arsenal deserve their position at the top of English football. They are led by one of the few individuals in this country's game with any sort of vision, and they play sublime football. The way they pass and move is at once breathtaking and frightening.
Can Villa contain them? Can Villa beat them?
We'll see later this evening. But make no mistake, my praise of Villa's players for their superb display at Ewood Park will look like nothing less than a flash in the pan if they come up short today.
It's time now for the boys to stand up tall. We are looking for a performance which will set the media talking, the press alight and the fans on fire.
And you know what? I think they'll do it.
Up The Villa!!!
