Football news in five minutes: Brucie bonus, no excuses for Big Mac and MyFootballClub

Steve Bruce leaving Birmingham City has prompted this post more than anything but I'm also going to touch on second choice Steve and the revelation that is MyFootballClub.

Unless Birmingham City have lined up their next manager and he's either just left Chelsea or is currently managing Russia I'm going to put money on them getting relegated this season.

If you're a regular visitor here you'll know I rate the importance of the manager above all other individuals at a football club and while I have little time for Birmingham City, Steve Bruce was to their Premier League aspirations as Robbie Savage was to them beating us.

This was a huge mistake by the board of Birmingham City and I suspect they sold out.

Anyway, moving on from one muppet to another and current England manager Steve McClaren. Today he's churned out the old classic of 'they'll be no excuses if we don't qualify' and rest assured, in fact mark my words, if England qualify on Wednesday night he'll come out telling us how he told us it was over twelve games and that he was always confident of progressing.

I say if we qualify because Croatia are, according to the FIFA rankings, a better team than the current England one they'll be coming to Wembley to win.

Onto MyFootballClub and if you've not heard of these guys then you really must visit the website. It's basically just over 50,000 of us who have all paid £35.00 to go and buy a controlling stake in a football club.

The club MyFootballClub are talking to is Ebbsfleet United and we'll know fairly soon if the deal goes through. I'm personally not convinced it is going to work but we'll just have to wait and see.

Think you're right, Blues could struggle even more now and that will not make them an attractive proposition for anyone wishing to take them over.

Steve McClaren will reveal his true colours on Wednesday. Is he going to go for Lampard in favour of Barry, Beckham over SWP and Robinson over Carson (or my nan for that matter)? If he does then he really is stupid. I actually think he might play both Lampard and Barry so if we don't qualify he's covered his bases.

If he does do the right thing then maybe he's learned a valuable lesson and it might just be worthwhile sticking with him for a little while longer.

Funny how Bruce's last game for Blues was a defeat to Villa. Hopefully we can do the double over Wigan, we owe them a defeat.

as of 10.20pm today the blues site (www.bcfc.com) has nothing about bruce leaving. I thought our club was bad at communicating with us but that is terrible.
