Well i'm not happy... 4-1 up 20 mins to go, come on we are supposed to be a good team (and squad). Maybe we were lucky to be 4-1 up doesnt mean we have to through it away...!! I have to say luck and them having a dodgy keeper are not the same thing.! |

I hope MON suspends Harewood for a lifetime or two. His "tackle" in the corner of the penalty area is beyond all stupidity. He is definitely the one to blame. With two goals up it is easier to defend. |

we are still a team that is work in progress. we have a couple of positions that we lack quality in. MON now knows that this team finds it very difficult to keep a lead till the end. Even my misses said it would be a draw when it was 4-1. and what does she know about football. Nigel reo said it in a article - the team lacks in self belief. What we really need in January is a team leader -someone who can bully the quieter ones into doing what they should be doing. keeping a lead. There is agood team in there. Martin, learn about them and change them into winners we know you can do it. |

Have to agree Damo, we were so lucky to get anything tonight. We have no consistency and rode our luck tonight - it won't be often we say we were lucky to darw after scoring 4 but we never convinced. NRC shot himself in the foot with an early booking and never figured thereafter, Gardener looked nervous,and bouma and Mellberg just hoofed possession away at every chance. The game was away from us long before Harewood arrived, and we just couldnt control the game even at 4-5-1. We still need a bigger squad (RM, CM, RB and CF) more options. Much more work needed, our league position flatters us. |

crusty is right about marlon. Villa played wel and deserved to be 4-1 up i think. I'm not sure I believe you can be lucky 4 times? It is true that Tottenham are the unluckiest team in the prem. Thankyou Aston Villa for making it an entertaining game. (I would rather we won tho) |

At the beggining of the season would def taken the draw at white heart lane, so in that respect i am pleased. However i think o neil ( who i like ) made mistakes with his substitutions why change the forwards when we are 4-1 up ? and why take gardner off who is a combative midfielder and stick petrov on who cant tackle.Harewood at best can be described not good that pen was sunday league, he looks a big waste of 4 mil but time will tell.I won £ 50.00 off my spurs friends because i got the draw but i also feel as if we lost tonight. |

I don't think we deserved to lose. You say were didn't deserve to score with Laursen's but a goal is a goal isn't it. We don't have to create quality goals just to 'deserve to win'. Spurs deserve that point, one hell of a comeback. Carson was great even if he conceded 4. His ariel presence was much better than usual. Defoe showed how much he deserved to start and Harewood and Zat Knight showed how much they deserve to be dropped. Nigel Reo-Coker was very average and we simply pulled back too much. If we didn't bring Harewood on and kept the formations the same i think it would be 4-2 at maximum. |

Conceding 3 goals in 20 mins is absolutely disgraceful. Especially on the back of the Leicester debacle. This teams is supposed to be young and British so where is the British never say die attitude? Where is the grit and determination? Blood and honour!! Seems like we got a squad full of fairies. I didnt believe that after the Chelsea game but now i'm wondering whether that was just a flukey one off. Come on Martin bollock the lads and prove me wrong!!! |

We were shocking with possesion tonight, we were giving the ball away all over the pitch and I have to say reo-cocker was one of the worst culprit. If it hadn't been for some comedy defending we would have really been no where near that match. |

I'm gutted !! Damian's comments reflect my feelings entirely. Jol made some substitutions that changed the game. Our subs p**sed on the parade IMO. Luke Moore was admittedly playing a little deep but he made room and played in Gabby and Ash on numerous occasions. As soon as Marlene came on, it all fell apart. I think the guy is as honest as the day is long but wihout the quality to be an AV centre forward in years to come. In fact, i reckon MON will realise what a mistake he's made and sell him to Blues in January ! Petrov looked s**te again and came on just when i thought Reo-Coker had started to wake up a bit. Therefore, i think tactically Martin Jol got it right tonight with his expensive subs and MON didn't and he only has himself to blame. Open cheque book and four months, he could have brought some real quality on to stick number 5 in before they had chance to push us deeper and deeper and deeper. 9th place in the Premier tonight instead of 5th and threw away a 4-1 advantage. MON is talking about bad referees, bad linesman, the penalty we should have had etc on Setanta right now but i can't help thinking if we could have brought a bit of quality on to s**t the life out of them when it mattered, we might be sitting in 5th place now. UP THE VILLA  |

I think the problem boils down to the squad, as mentioned below Martin Jols subs were spot on but when you've got bent, Malbranque and Defoe on the bench, who's surprised, if we had another 4 or 5 good players we could have brought on, I'd make a safe bet we'd have taken home 3 points tonight. Sadly this wasn't the case. |

I know it is easy to say in hindsight, but I knew they would come back. Tonight was a perfect litmus test for who is up to the job and who is not. If we want to be in Europe next season, then we need to be locking down when we go a goal up, let alone 3. I am never one to jump on a bandwagon, but I have to say that nearly all of MON´s signings did not show up tonight. Harewood looked oafish, Petrov invisible, Knight clumsy and NRC (who I think has done well in some previous games)looked like a headless chicken. On the flip side, it should be said that Martin Laursen is looking as good as anybody in the league, and Gardner has surely done enough to merit a decent run. Absolutely gutted. |

I know the team threw away the 4-1 lead but i must say Harewood is Fu**ing awfull!!!! He came on and cost us the game. If we had a beeter squad we would have shut that game down and would be in 5th now. A point is all we deserve but send Harewood back to the hammers he is a terrible signing! |

to Madarab I too thought Laursen was absolutely immense. Gardner also had a good game. Ashley Young impressed me with his defensive play as well as his obvious ability going forward. Like a lot have said on here...we knew we were sitting on a lead at half time that we probably wouldn't keep. MON should have brought some real quality when he had the chance and maybe things would be a bit different right now.  |

We were not very good tonight, and if spurs were a half decent team we would never have even got 4 goals. However we DID get 4 and at 4-1 up no good team should be letting in another 3 in the final 25mins. I would have been happy with a point if offered it from the start, but at 4-1 i expect villa to hold on for the win. Several players dissapointed me tonight, most notably Ashley Young. How many crosses passes did he fail to make meet a villa player?! Im not happy with just a point, but lets be honest, if it hadnt been for Robinson being crap we would never have got 4 goals in the first place. A point away is better than nothing, now BRING ON WEST HAM!! |

harewood was terrible, but lets not all get on his back about it, if it was barry, laursen or mellberg that played bad we wouldnt be on there back like this, its his second appearence and obviously he wants to impress us fans and now he must feel more pressure to do this. give him a break, MON isnt an idiot he knows where he is going with harewood, maybe he will come good in the west ham game (if he plays. but lets forget that now and all look forwards to hitting the hammers for six because the west ham crowd are gonna be onto harewood and reo cokers backs no need for us to help them |

this just proves what everyone has known for a few years now what a small squad we have got, one or two injuries and we are in a right mess.so what does martin oneil do he sells more then he buys and this is the main problem. as for harewood i wouldnt play him in our local pub team,i was hoping like every other villa fan that martin oneil could bring the best out off him but this is never going to happen so get rid,and lets all forget because hes crap,back to the match 4-4 draw at spurs we should all be celebrating a great point but what a mess up, is martin oneil the right man for this once great club of ours i,m not so sure now,but we will find out at the end of the season one way or the other.up the villa |

I watched the match in a pub in boro today. I laughed about how crap middlesbrough were and how we could go fifth. there were a few spurs fans in and just me and another villa fan from my uni. I knew as soon as it was 4 -2 they would equalise. there was a huge cheer in the pub as spurs equalised as i threw my pint at the wall and the other villa fan basically cried. what a nightmare. I blame it all on harewood aswell. he is so bad its untrue. why did he just blast it for a throw in when he had it in the corner flag!! what an absolute idiot. IS IT ME OR DOES IT ALWAYS SEEM TO BE VILLA FANS LIKE MYSELF THAT FEEL AS BAD AS THIS! WE ALWAYS F IT UP AND THROW IT AWAY, im worried to even watch soccer saturday or go to a match cause even if we are 4 - 1 we manage to ruin it. i was embarassed to support villa tonight and I feel the season will go down hill from here. As alot of people have said we didnt deserve to be 4-1 up and we didnt play at all well last night at any stage. But thats not really the point, we were gifted a few goals (i think gabby's goal was down to skill & Gardner's freekick was abit of both) and we should have been cruising at 4-1. The defending wasnt good but Spurs were lost for ideas abit and looked down on themselves before harewood gave away that penaltie then that restored belief. Im abit miffed about the equaliser as it was clearly shown that Defoe was offside for a large part of the move. Yet nothing in the paper about it, if it was 1 of the top 4 that linesman would have been suspended. This is another example of why video evidence in some way should be used. It is almost impossible for the refs & linesman not to feel pressure because of the occasion and i believe it got to the linesman. Its not as if he was slightly off, he was way off and i noticed it whilst the play was going on. Even though we didnt play at all well i think we were robbed. It shouldnt have been 3 minutes added time either. I know this is just nit picking and the real problem lies in how we managed to throw away a 3 goal lead. Ive calmed down today and i think a draw is a fair result even though we did blow it and as people said if before the game someone had offered me a point i would have taken it. I think if we had had Carew fit we wouldnt have been alot better because he could have held up the ball and brought our defense abit of time but instead Spurs were constantly coming at us for like 25 minutes. As people have said it wasnt a bad decision by MON to bring Harewood & Petrov on, what would have happened if another player had got injured (Moore or Gardner) we would have been alot worse off. It was the players who let the team down not the manager. Ive calmed down now and im willing to give Harewood another chance but he best start performing. Overall i think we were lucky to gain a point the way we played, we were not very good and could barely string passes together. Its still hurts badly thought to be 4-1 up and throw it away. UTV |

I think its unfair to blame MON for the draw by making those substitutions. At 4-1 up, you should be able to make like-for-like swaps without it affecting the outcome of the game. I'm surprised no-one has criticised Luke Moore yet. I think MON did the right thing bringing him off because he was giving the ball away all night (although I'd have brought on Osbourne as an extra central defensive midfielder, personally). I'm a big fan of Moore, but he was poor last night. Harewood actually looked more threatening going forward than Moore did. He made a stupid mistake with the foul, but it should not have cost us the win (there were 2 other goals to concede). I agree that we were lucky to be 4-1 up. If Spurs had Carson in goal, they'd have thrashed us last night. In fact, if I was a Spurs fan I'd want them to sign Carson and Laursen in January. They'd be top four then, for sure. |
