Mourinho gone, Grant in and Sven licking his lips

This whole Chelsea thing is getting a mention because unless Sir Alex Ferguson quits Manchester United to team up with old pal Peter Kenyon they'll be nothing bigger today.

Jose Mourinho has parted company with Chelsea and I reckon Sven Goran Eriksson will be there by the end of the season.

Now it depends on what paper you read as to what actually happened but I think most will accept this has been coming for some time and the only thing that could have probably saved Jose would have been 18 points in the league.

I'm not convinced it's a good move for Chelsea as continuity is such a factor and so many players appear to be big fans of Mourinho. I suspect it's the non Mourinho players that have had a hand in this and the poor result from the other night.

With United this weekend, Chelsea look like they're about to appoint current Director of Football and buddy of Roman Abramovich, Avram Grant as the new manager and I've got a feeling Sven Goran Eriksson is probably quite happy about that.

I have a feeling Sven wants the Chelsea job and this is his big chance. If he continues to do as well as he's doing at Manchester City with some pretty average players then Abramovich will be fully aware of what he could do at Chelsea.

It's a no lose situation for Abramovich. If Avram Grant does a good job and takes maximum points from the next ten games it's all good. If he picks up 11 points from the next ten games, Sven will happily take up residence in the Chelsea hot-seat.

Abramovich will also have no problem taking him from another Premier League club and I suspect Sven will jump at the chance of having a real opportunity of winning the league.

Clearly this is all just speculation but it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds at Chelsea.

I can understand why Jose left with all of Abramovich's demands and never being happy, good luck to the arrogant sod. Sven or Marcello Lippi should be the next Chelsea manager should Grant fail to get all points available up until January.

Hiddink will be the next Chelsea boss, as long as Russia don't qualify for Euro Cup.

Yes I heard the Gregory rumor too..also, David O'Leary's available of course and Abramovich - being an accomplished expert of sexy football - will have appreciated the cavalier Leeds style of play from years ago and the success that is still coming as a result of the Irish tactician's groundwork (especially the impressive charge up the table in Division 2 this year). Naturally, for a passionate club like Chelsea and its huge fans base always filling Stamford Bridge way beyond capacity a passionate man could be the solution - a man who can appreciate the true value of money and as a result handle Abramovich's blank chequebook sensibly. So why not go for King Of Bling, ITV's own Desailly-lover Ron Atkinson? Either way, I wish Chelsea all the best as a club with the tradition, the crowds and the history they have need a suitable leader. Personally - if I was shiny cartoon-like sidekick Kenyon - I'd also consider Christian Gross and Graeme Souness for the job.

i doubt any top manager will go to Chelsea without assurances from RA that he will not meddle. JM did the right thing as it was clear that RA wanted to pick who they would buy. It was clear from his two buys Sheva & Ballack that he doesnt know that much about football. If he wants to pick the team so much why doesnt he manage it? I fear that Lampard may leave now which is bad for Chelsea. We as english football fans have lost again!wheather you hated or loved him he was a key player in the PL and will be missed.

Obviously the last straw was the champions legue but not so much the result but the low attendance if that would have been Man u or Arsenal their stadiums would have been full.Maybe the fans were gettin bored of the sterile fotball he was churning out.

I cant beleive they have got rid of him.... this is madness... total madness.

The guy is a class act and would have pulled through this bad spell with ease.

Does anyone know the full in - and - outs.... like was he pushed or did he walk?

If he was pushed then it's a total load of balls!

Before shevchenko and Ballack went to chelsea they would have been in 9 out of 10 peoples europian starting 11.I used to think they were 2 of the best players in the world(and still do) becouse not only are they class but they have done it at the highest level for the last 10 years.I may be wrong but i thought you were ment to build a team around your best players and not expect players like Sheva Ballack Cole fit into a long ball game. Chelsea are the expensive version of the old bolton, but with a 230 million pound squad(the most expensive in the world FACT) i would expect to watch football similar to that of Arsenal not Bolton(now Newcastle.)So all in all he had to go.UP THE VILLA

This could possibly be the biggest mistake ever made in football. He turned good English players like Terry, Lampard and J Cole in world class superstars. He also brought in virtually unknown talents such as Essien, Carvalho even Drogba and helped to turn them into exceptional players. Abramovic may have the money but he doesn't have a football brain. Chelsea could suffer followig Mourinho's exit. The Chelsea players absolutely adored him and will probably struggle for motivation now. It's a shame that the premiership's loosing such a colourful character but with Jose no longer at the Bridge it gives the rest of us hope!
