It's a rumour on the Guardian rumour page so it's not even something you can throw in the bin but it's a rumour so it's getting listed.

Martins was excellent for Newcastle last season and I doubt they'd let him go if only because the chances of little Michael Owen picking up another injury are probably higher than David Cameron winning the next General Election.

It's also rumoured that Michael Owen is going to retire from club football to concentrate on his international career so Martins becoming available, even at £8m is probably unlikely.

Would I like to see him at Villa Park though? Absolutely. He's a class striker and one that would score goals and create chances.

Don't shoot me down, it's started by someone else, but what do you think?

What a surprise, one bad result and the knives are out. I don't really care whether MARTINS comes in or not. MON has decided to build a young vibrant team which hopefully in time will produce a decent side. The other option was to try and pull in the crowd pleasing purchases,but,obviously that's not possible.
