There's quite a lot wrong in that article. Firstly, and most importantly, i think we'd be lucky to get Obafemi Martins. I've heard that he has a release clause, but it may have run out for all i know, so the fee isn't a problem. The problem is Martins wanting to come to the villa. I know that we're moving in the right direction, but i can't see him coming to us from Newcastle, when there isn't much difference between the two. And if any of the rags are to be believed, Arsenal want the guy badly. If i wasn't a villa fan and was in his position, i know where i'd go. Secondly, Owen giving up club football for international is unprecedented...i've never heard anything like it in the modern game. Who would pick a player who doesn't play club football anyway. Thirdly, i don't know too much about politics, but last time i checked, Cameron is dying a horrible death in the polls against a resurgent labour party with Brown, and he's not looking favourite to win the election. Don't ask why i felt the need to correct the political assertion, but i did, mainly because i don't like the tories. |

I dunno why people would be surprised to see owen retire from club football. Nothing too different from current standings. As for martins coming to villa at present; b******s. |

| He would be an incredible signing. Can't see it happening, unless perhaps I concoct a touching fantasy of a Milan based Martin Laursen taking the young Nigerian under his wing when he first signed for Inter. In their late night cooking sessions and tandem Italian lessons, they developed a bond so emotionally integral to them both that they simply cannot be without each other for one moment longer. Or something. |

Meh we'll end up signing emile heskey in january and send harewood on loan to Wigan as part of the deal And sign Nugent or Defoe hoping for a kinda heskey owen partnership for us. Then we'll sign bardsley and hoyte and play them both down the right. Also we'll hopefully sign Hitzelsperger again and see a Villa player score from more than 16 yards. Maloney and Petrov will go back to celtic holding hands and say in a press conference we weren't appreciated there. And lastly to replace Maloney & Petrov we'll sign Aiden McGeady & Nolan. p.s. Don't expect salifou to play untill after the african cup of nations. |

Would be nice to get him but i think the clause in his contract is £13M so i dont think Newcastle would let him go for anything like £8M. Also we would need to be doing pretty well come January since clubs like Arsenal are supposedly interested. UTV |

it doesnt really matter what we think as it would never materialise. MON knows this and instead of admitting it just throws horse s**t our way. how many times so far has he publicly stated..... WE HAVE A GOOD ENOUGH SQUAD TO COMPETE THEY ARE ALL JUST LACKING CONFIDENCE and in the interview after Man City.... IT DOESNT MATTER HOW MUCH CONFIDENCE THE PLAYERS HAVE YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT THE QUALITY OF FINISHING more faces than a dice lets face it. our squad is young, imature and learning. but apart from being coached, who have they to learn from... NO ONE IN THE SQUAD. our defense was ok before the window opened this year apart from some [players leaving but we were dying for a right back and a proven striker... DID WE GET EITHER.... NO! Carew - as much as i love him - just is not putting in the performances a triedand tested scorer should. and as much as i like moore also, he has a lack of experince and although is a good striker.. is not proven, is not a great striker and being his age is not somone the lads in the ranks can look to to learn from. had we signed a right back instead of penny pinching ( which now looks to cost us dearly this season) and also a great proven striker ( i dont mean world class as defined by Fitzy no position to make public comments) then man city would have been a walk over. everyone said we had the most chances, great chances and some wicked crosses in that game... just no one to fiish... Whats the point in haveing 6'6" carew when he is s**t in the air (by his own admission). gabby is good but cant finish. young is class but with him going for a strike theres no one decent enough to do his job and give him a great ball. maloney is good but unpredictable. as everyone said when we were marching on about getting the defence sorted, they said WHY DO WE WANT ANY MORE FORWARDS. WE HAVE LOADS OF FORWARDS. EVEN MORE THAN WE NEED FOR COVER. thats like turning up to a track day competition and one team taking 3 Ferarri Enzo's and the other raking 50 Ford Focus's. You may have enough backup incase the ford breaks down. but you still aint gonna have a touch on the ferarri in jan we better get a right back and a striker. if the damage is reversable by then |

| I wish..now that would be the kind of player I'd love to see in a Villa shirt..but highly unlikely. Maybe Lerner had his savings at a Northern Rock branch? |

| Don't think the rumor even makes sense as long as MON wants to stick with a 433; Martins plays poorly when forced out to the wing, and he's too small to be a spearhead of the Carew/Harewood type. If we start seeing more 442 from the Villa, then I might believe. |

| What a surprise, one bad result and the knives are out. I don't really care whether MARTINS comes in or not. MON has decided to build a young vibrant team which hopefully in time will produce a decent side. The other option was to try and pull in the crowd pleasing purchases, but, obviously that's not possible. Carry on slagging off your team, or demand immediate success, meanwhile I'll be judging the great man at the end of the season to see if there has been progress. |
