This would be an absolutely awesome signing! I have watched him loads of times and he is class, natural ability to do to unexpected, I am not even sure he knows how he end up keeping the ball. A player to unlock midfielders and play in wingers. Surely not?... |

this is from Wikipedia Nicolae Marius Dică (born May 9, 1980 in Piteşti) is a Romanian football attacking midfielder. He is very attack minded and has a good rate of scoring goals directly from free kicks. He lacks pace but makes up for it with marvellous passing. 3 words there worry me - he lacks pace |

| well mon was apparantly in europe last week so might be some truth in it and its even better if he is a midfielder it means it will take some pressure off our young strikers without dropping them which might happen if the likes of defoe come |

| The marvelous passing and a midfielder who can score goals? get him in if the price is right, he can be the replacement for Berger. He might be able to do the job Petrov is supposed to do |

I can think of a few midfielders who lacked pace, Beckham for one and Sid Cowans wasnt the quickest, but look at the passing range he had. Depends on the price but worth a look and if decent price a punt as well. |

I would love to see him here. He won't cost the earth and looks like he has that bit of spark that we are lacking. I love a foreign gamble! Mutu didn't do so well at Chelsea, but he had an attitude problem. Other Romanians have done well in the Premiership. Remember Dan Petrescu and Ilie Dumitrescu? Then again, Gheorghe Popescu and Florin Raducioiu came here with big reputations, like Mutu, and struggled. |

| This is more like it, just the sort of player we need, someone to do somthing a bit special not Routledge who is a sub standard version of players like young and maloney. But on the other rumour front i think Knight could be good for us he is 27 perfect age to buy a defender much more experianced now and the mistakes seem to have dryed up. Cahill is a great prospect but is not ready just yet.So Dica 5m Knight 3.5m (if they sign) we still need a right back but if we do get 3 good players i will be a happy chappy with the squad compared to this time last year-Carson, Taylor,Sorensen-RB?, Melberg,Laursen, Cahill, Knight?, Bouma, O'Halloran-Barry,Reo-Coker, Gardener,Osbourne-Petrov, Berger,Dica?-Maloney, Young,Gabby,Moore-Carew,Harewood. |

The so called exciting signing is going to be Knight. Dont anyone get your hopes up for anyone else. Its so depressing What has happened?? A promise of world class signings and we end up with harewood, carson on loan, Zat Knightmare and Reo coker. Are these honestly the players oneil wanted at the start of the transfer window?? |

I've not really looked at what others have written (I read most, but not all comments) so sorry if I'm repeating what's been said... I would be quite happy if this rumour was true. Though I don't really know the player, to be an attacking midfielder and to have a goal:game ratio of 1:2 for Steaua, he must be doing something right. Okay, it's the Romanian league, but shows he knows where the goal is, and knows how to get the ball in the net, something which is always handy. A random aside - I've been wondering this a bit recently - can someone point me to actual quotes from Villa about getting "World Class" signings, please. I've heard people say it a lot, but don't remember the club saying it (not saying they didn't, but would like to see where, if they did). Thanks. |

If he's rated at £5 million, its probably worth a punt. We can afford a £5 million mistake. Its a bit hit and miss with these types of foreign player and we won't really know how good he is until he plays in the Premiership. He looks more like a striker than a midfielder to me. He does look good on Youtube, but so does Marlon Harewood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y8deDP5MWk), so we shouldn't get too exited just yet (or maybe we should be more excited about Marlon?!). On the other hand, we have other positions that need filling much more urgently. I won't feel comfortable until we have that right-back slot filled, twice over. |

| West Ham have made an audacious bid to take Inter Milan's Adriano on loan for the season according to Talksport: to all who constantly diss the club for "not being ready to attract major players" - you've got to believe you are stepping up a gear in the 1st place as a club - and as fans. Judging by the club activity so far this summer and by the negative whining of the cautious brigade on here I'd say neither are ready for that big leap. I still hope to be proven very, very wrong by midnight on the 31st. |

Just can't believe it, talk about down to earth with a bump ! First of all at the start of the window we were talking about the possibility of Alves, Sneidjer, Lahm etc being on MON's radar. We quickly realised that players of this quality may be a little difficult to lure to AV. So, we took a reality check and started talking about the likes of Defoe, Boswingwa, Hangeland, Mertesecker etc and others like this over the coming months and didn't manage to snare any of them. Instead we got a good player in NRC, Marvellous Marlon(no comment)and paid £2.5million for a loaned goalkeeper. Now with just a couple of days to go to the end of the window, with the season four (after tonight) games in, we are talking Zat Knight and Wayne Routledge. If the rumours are true and they both sign, I only hope that MON has something else up his sleeve as well because IMO, this is nowhere near good enough. Been trying not to moan lately but couldn't help it. I like the look of this Dica bloke though. It don't really matter if he hasn't got pace, we have that in abundance. Someone to compete with Petrov with an eye for a pass and a finish ! By he way...1-0 Villa ...Maloney. UP THE VILLA |

| Agreed Damian, lack of European football's a handicap but not an impossible stumbling block. Many clubs across Europe have managed to attract players of quality despite not being in Europe or not having a huge history of recent success, witness Hamburg getting Van Der Vaart 3 seasons ago. The problem lies with ambition and willingness to spend cash: I suspect that behind O'Neill's justifications in terms of not wanting to spend over the odds for players lies a lack of funds or at least a safe approach on Lerner's part. Over the next 48 hours we'll know whether that's a wrong theory or it's how things really stand at the club right now. Should I be right, we as fans have been taken for quite a ride over the past few months. |

I'm a Romanian and a Steaua fan. Trust me, Dică is a world class player, if he had pace, he would now be at Real Madrid and would cost about as much as Ronaldinho. He's a great player with European experience (he scored against Olympique Lyon last year in the Champions League group stage), but I really hope he won't leave Steaua, who will qualify again for the group stage to play in a team with no European ambition. |

I feel that Dica is a perfect fit for Villa.. he really is a player as he did show today v Arsenal that will appear 2 minutes of 90, and in those two minutes he A) Shot just by the left bar of GK, 25 yrds out. B) Volley 35 yards out, cleared off the line by defender. C) Beautiful passing. he is the package, and very smart..consistant and he does not complain at ALL! he is perfect for villa. |
