Heinze would never have joined us even if we had offered 12m, we are not a big enough club for a genuine world clas operator like to come to, given the choice of Madrid or Aston, its a no brainer. Ideally today, will see Sorenson depart, with best wishes for the future, and thanks for the service, Mellberg, and Moore tied up, and Davies arrive with some luck, I have a sneaky feeling if Davies comes, Mellberg will be a right back in the short term, as Laursen when fit cannot be dropped, Mellberg HAS to play, and we aint spending 8m if the rumours are to be believed, for Davies to get splinters in his arse. Im feeling unusually positive today, even though Ive not had a season ticket, my pal is going away for the Chelsea game so hes lent me his ticket for that one. SOTC |

MON is trying to build a side aroung the best young British talent. I've no problem with that, and in fact I'd rather have Davies than Heinze. In the same way, I'd rather have Hoyte or Rosenior than Boswinga. Man City may be top, but I've never heard of half their players and I have no idea where a lot of them come from. I'm no BNP supporter, but I think the strategy of building around the England U21 squad makes a lot of sense and differentiates Villa from its UEFA Cup place competitors. I agree with snake, when your a big club, you can sign the big players that are going cheap, Ballack for free, cannavaro for very little. We are a small club on the world stage so have to pay big money, until we have can challenge for the prem and have CL to offer. So you really can't compair Heinze and Davis. Plus heinze is a stoppy player, who has been unspympathetic to the support hes got off Man U whilst injured. Plus Davis wont even have to move house, hense is already settled, He's used to english football, and if wenger likes him thats good enough for me. |

personaly id have none of them they are both stroppy players who are good but not great the problem with the both is they think they r great when they r both just throwing toys out of pram to get a move to other clubs to get more money. i would go all out to sign hangland as he will learn more from mon and not winge about things. i feel if we sign davis, in a few years he will become a problem player in the dressing room which is not what mon wants, because he will again try to find another club that will pay him more etc... havent we had enough of these players in the past! i also have a prob with buying young england under 21 players its a good logic they are good players that mon is going for but if england play a friendly and we have say 6 players in the team and they get injured over training and games etc.. its gonna leave us again with a depleted squad, i just think that gettin the england u21 players is good but we also need other players to cover injuries etc.. to said players. |

Ton 23, surely it doesnt matter what nationality they are? We need good players, good players tend to represent their counbtries so whether they are representing England under 21s on Mongolia under 21's - there's just as much chance of them getting injured. People have been moaning that we have a thin squad, then when we're looking to sign someone (a good young prospect who is recognised as such by wenger/jol/other top coaches)people start complaining and looking on the negative. Its no wonder villa fans have got a reputation for being fickle! |

no i like mons idea of young english, but would also like him to buy some young players from other countries as well to have a squad that covers injuries etc.... its better to have a full squad from all over the place. it helps the england team develope better by playng together each week while keeping some of the player's from other countries at our club as cover, |

and im not a fickle villa fan nor a negative one i just look at the bigger picture! i like what mon is doing i think we have a good team for the future, also good prospects for the full englan team in the future, i just think it wouldn't hurt having extra players from other countries in as well! i also like the way mon is opperating in transfer market as in a few years when this tv deal goes belly up again it gonna screw alot of teams up and mon is biding his time for the future of the club, when everyone else is struggling we have a billionaire owner who can just catapult us to where us villa fans want the club to be! |

Dont think our scouting network is good enough for that. If had a mixture of the current approach, and took a leaf put of arsenals book in snapping up top youngsters from under the noses of big european clubs for peanuts then we'd be onto a winner! That IS value for money - look at fabregas and van persie etc - all cost next to nothing in comparison to what they are worth now |

Curtis Davies is a very good prospect, but he's not the finished article yet. At £8 million he's a lot of money. We scored more goals in the Championship than any other team last year, but didn't go up because of an often brittle defence. At the heart of the defence was our captain, Curtis Davies. If Freddy Eastwood bamboozled him think what Ronaldo will do! Don't expect miracles straight away ... and good luck for the season ahead. |

why doesnt MON save 4 mill by buying Hangeland instead of Davies, and then spend the 13.5 mill on bringing in Bosingwa!! Davies will moan and kick up a fuss if he doesnt start, I wouldnt say Hangeland would be like that. Plus Hangeland is already a full international with more experience than Davies!! Im not saying Davies is not good, becaue he obviously is a good player, but at 8 mill!! Id prefer take the gamble on Bosingwa instead, seeing as we dont have a right back!!!! |

I think it's £8mn. simply because he's English. England produces the most overrated players in football today. I can see why Arsene goes for French U20s and makes them into World dominators. But Martin has always favoured the English leagues and made a lot of quality players out of them, so prove me wrong Martin, prove me wrong! |

Davies is definitely a good prospect and although he was part of a disappointing defensive unit last season, that wasn't his fault as we played 6 or 7 attacking players and as a result, there was rarely any midfield support when defending. Also, Davies didn't play alongside the greatest and most experienced CB's in the world and definitely never had a settled partnership. Having watched you guys against the Toon at the weekend, then if Curtis gets to play alongside Martin Laursen, he'll be learning from one of the best. Laursen's performance against the toon was one of the best I've seen any where in this country, since a certain Mr. Paul McGrath... and I don't say that lightly! Good luck Villa, which may surprise some of you coming from a Baggie, but over the past 10 years I have come to hate that arrogant bunch over in Small Heath far more... plus of course the Dingles! |

Davies is rated at 8 million due to his potential, not his track record - and he's English. Some people have even tipped him as a future captain of the national team. I think that's a bit rash. If MON doesn't raise his price's for players he wants he'll miss out and everybody will be moaning when were left with a weak squad so he cant really win, i think we need to pay these inflated prices for players we want if we are going to compete. MON see's him as a player to take us forward over the next few years so lets pay the extra couple of million and anybody that moans are probably still moaning about the 1/2 a million we never raised on Robbie Keane 6 or so years ago. Young potential is exspensive but if they reach there potential you cant lose. Heinze is 29 and temperamental! |

he's only moaning cus he wants a transfer to the premier league which Koumas and Kamara (your only other decent players) got, he spent a season in the championship trying to get u straight back up but now doesnt want to waste another season there, fair cop! and your chairman is trying to price him out of a move which would be silly when it doesn't look like he'll probably play again for u so u could have spent that on some decent championship players. |

Looks like cahill was part of the deal, and its stalled because he wont move to the baggies. If thats true, why are we getting rid of our best young talent to our rivals? First ridgewell to small heath, now we're trying giving gary away to the tesco bags in return for someone who is not any better IMO! We need numbers, and should be hanging onto cahill, ridgewell AND buying Davies, especially in light of Mellbergs contract refusal. Why is it never simple with Villa? Any deal we do takes a living age to complete and when it is completed theres never any sense of joy, just relief that its finally laboured to a conclusion. So painful...... |

its a disgrace if Cahill was being offered to WBA as a part exchange deal!!! I thought we were trying to add quality to the squad not replace it!! Imagine the cheek of the Baggies asking for 8 mill plus Cahill, what a f*cking joke!!! For all we know Cahill is as good if not better than Davies! We'v seen him play in the Premiership first hand and he definately has what it takes!! Now Im hoping its just lazy journalism because I think MON does rate Cahill! Id say go for Hangeland for 4 mill and bosingwa 12 mill, end of story |
