First we'll start with the rumour that Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson is interested in Thomas Sorensen. It was in The Fiver, so take it any which way you want to.
Onto the news; Agbonlahor has been picked for the England Under 21 squad to face Romania in a friendly next week at Ashton Gate. Good news for the player and quite lucky he had his phone on I guess.
Martin O'Neill is going to have talks with a 'number of his senior players ahead of the end of month transfer-deadline'. Notably Thomas Sorensen, Olof Mellberg and Luke Moore.
They are all in the last year of their contract and I'm not even going to try and read into the comments made by the manager in relation to this.
I hate to put a time limit on these things, but by the end of next week I would hope to have certain things resolved. I would like to have those done and I think that the players would like to know by transfer-deadline day as well. So I'll make decisions on all of them.
Martin O'Neill, August 16th 2007
Like I said, I'm not going to read too much into it but if the rumour about Manchester City wanting Sorensen is true then maybe he may be off.
For me though, Luke Moore is the key man to sign up on a long term contract. Mellberg deserves an extension also but Moore needs to be kept.
Last bit of news is that tickets for Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium in September are now on priority sale. Might be interesting to score a few past Sorensen or do you think he'll have a blinder? If he went that is.

You forgot that Gardner has got an England u-21 call up. Great news for the talented youngster.
did i?
bugger ... oh well.
Can someone tell me why Ashley Young is not in the u21's. Does this mean he is gonna make a senior debut or have i missed some news somewhere?
Mellberg & Moore both deserve new long term contracts in my opinion but the pessimist in me cant help worrying about what MON said in the above quote! Could it mean that as both players are entering their final year of their current contracts that if they cant reach an agreement they could be off prior to transfer deadline! Who knows? I just hope that they can reach an agreement and both players will remain at Villa Park for the long haul!
ash is 22 now hence the reason for his absence
Agree totally, we must tie Moore down with a new contract, I can accept the loss of Davies and Ridgwell, even if I don't particularly understand it, but losing Moore would seriously start knocking my belief in MON.
M O'N's been on Sky Sports News saying 2 signings are imminent!!
ashley is 22 and thats why he aint in u21 squad....
tis funny then how Nigel Reo-Coker was in the england u21 squad at the age of 23
well if sorensen does leave, its better if he goes to man city, who are doing pretty well so far
