The Davis Debate: Fulham, Middlesbrough or Aston Villa

Steven Davis is a frustrated lad at 'not getting regular football last season'. You know what; I don't blame him for getting a little frustrated as he probably loves his job.

You see, what I do can also be frustrating. I'm sure what most of us do is also frustrating. So it's fair to say we understand what 'frustration' really is.

Now, while I and probably all of us fully understand Steven Davis is frustrated, what has wound me up more than anything today is the fact that while he's frustrated at having to work four hours a day and do something he probably really does love doing; he's getting paid £15,000 a week.

Now, this is a double edged sword but it's just my opinion and no doubt if I earned that much money I'd feel as if I could throw my toys out of my pram every now and then. But I don't want to hear it, sorry.

He was speaking to the Belfast Telegraph yesterday.

Of course it's been a frustrating time for me as every player wants to be playing games on a regular basis. It didn't really happen for me last season so it's very important that changes for me next season. My name has been linked with a lot of different clubs but I'll wait and see what the gaffer has to say and take it from there. Who knows where I will end up next season.
Steven Davis, June 27th 2007

Now, you want players to be hungry and you want them to be champing at the bit but they also have to understand that the team comes first, above everything.

Davis played 31 times last season, eleven as a substitute, according to the BBC. How many games did we play last season, because 31 times seems like the majority to me.

It has to change for him next season according to his quote and I've probably completely blown it out of all proportion but I can guarantee him a couple of things; going to Middlesbrough or Fulham wouldn't be a side step, it would very much be a step down.

I want to see Davis at Villa next season because he does have bags of potential, but I want him talking like it's an honour to play for the club and that he's happy at every opportunity he gets, not saying things have to change. Am I wrong? By the way, I suspect he's off.

this lad is an extreme talent and letting him go will be a huge blow to the team. I still cannot understand why he wasnt in the team more often last season

I dont think we should let him go, but you cant blame the boy if MON is not giving him the encouragement to stay, i really hope MON knows what he's doing.

Seeing as we probably bring in NRC and perhaps one more central midfielder I do think Davis would get less games next season. I rate Gardner higher than Davis and it seems MON does too, so in all fairness I think it's a smart move on Davis' part.

He's going cuz he doesn't cut it. When Tommy H went it was on the back of similar performances. i.e. he vanishes for 95% of the game. Also, people don't seem to be taking into account what a lot of people closely involved with the club know about him and Luke Moore, who has even more natural ability than Davis, and that is they are both drama, with a sprinkiling of primadona about them, that's why MON is cashing in.

There are much better players in the prem who have to bide there time and they are much better than him.Robbie keane ,defoe, barry and crouch have been left out of their club teams and international squads .You never hear barry moan ,if he wants to go let him, he hasnt rediscoved the form he showed a couple of seasons ago

Sounds to me more like he's blaming the club for not playing him, even though he was crap in the oppurtunities given to him. Bags of potential but obviously not a loyal bloke as well, he can leave if he likes, i'm sure Isaiah and Craig will be loving him going all the more.

I dont want him go. He is a talented youngster.

I can understand why MON let Samuel, McCann, Hughes, Hendrie go. But not Davis. I think he deserves a regular place next year.

I think for what you said, that is probalby exactly why MON is willing to let him go. He does have a lot of potential and I DO want him to stay, but he's whining like a baby. He's trying to blame someone else, when the only person to blame is himself. Lets examine how he can start more games. Well it's simple, he simply has to be our best player for that position. As you stated he's had plenty of playing time to prove himself on the pitch and he hasn't. So... instead of whining and wanting a transfer... maybe work harder on the pitch?

yes hes a talented player but just talent wont take us to the next level it will be heart and playing for the club that you would work your ass off for that will .. after hearing about steven davis saying this crap i dont want him in our side ... hes the type that brings team morale down because its only about him and not the side ... get rid of him mon and sign reo-coker .. the difference between nrc and davis is that nrc will run hes heart out until its physically impossible to go anymore, did you see him in the england u21 semi final ?! .. why west ham fans hate him .. i dont know maybe there just too one eyed to see their whole club was in crap form not just one player ..

Just think about a year ago Man Utd wanted him to replace Roy Keane now he could be playing at Fulham. My opinion is that he should Maybe be loaned out see how he does.If he has a fantastic loan spell at Fulham maybe MON could find a place for him in the squad

Steven Davis was a friend of mine from school and he is an extremly loyal and talented guy he obviously isnt getting the encouragement to stay from o,neill. He will do better at Fulham anyway under his ex northern Ireland coach. Look what Sanchez did for northern Ireland. A we country with a one and a half million population ranked 28th in the worlld!!!
