Pretty boy Hendrie off to Derby?

I'm putting it under speculation as it's in the Sun but Lee Hendrie is a lazy sod so will probably want to stay as close to home and his 'dad' as possible, but it looks like he's off to Derby.

His dad has spoken to Derby and there might be something there for him. I was under the impression he was going to have it all sorted by last Friday but maybe there are not that many Premiership teams interested in the player.

Judging by the amount of press he's attracting about how it's not about the money, I wouldn't be surprised.

Well, he's no longer an Aston Villa player although you can still buy a table for his testimonial dinner if you're interested in not putting more money into his pocket. Apparently some is going to charity.

Guests include Peter Crouch, Martin O'Neill and the first team squad, Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Geoff Hurst, Ron Atkinson and John Gregory.

I'm sure it will be a good night and Lee does deserve some credit. I remember when he first broke into the team and even when I see him play now you can see he's still got it, he's just never had the proper direction.

It must also be gut wrenching having to leave his one and only club that he clearly loves. However, I'd like to think the money has helped.

I think Hendrie is a good player but i don;t know y MON didnt give a chance to him.
If Berger reward a contract,i think Hendrie should also have a chance fairly!
He work hardly when his loan spell at stoke 1st half season,he was superior to the champion league
y MON doesnt give a chance to a player like him?

I was suprised to see Hendrie sent out to Stoke given our problems at right-wing and having to play Gabby out of position. He could've been useful but if it wasn't for that, Gabby wouldn't be the talk of Villa Park. I guess he should thank him. smilies/cheesy.gif

Apparently Billy Davies has dismissed the speculation of Hendrie going to Derby, looks like Lee's prem hopes won't come true. He is definetly 16th-20th place quality so i wouldn't be suprised if Sunderland, Fulham, Wigan or Man City come searching for him.

Simple... He hasn't got the pace of the youngters like young, maloney or agbonlahor to play on the wings and he's not physical enough to play in a central role.

He had his chance and he blew it. Maybe he didn't have the direction or self control, but there is no argument to keeping a player who is 30, and will not add anything to the team!! Is he really a player MON and Randy Lerner will expect to take the club forward?!!!

Leaving hendrie out of the squad and not giving him a chance to gain a place back into the team is the first fault of martin o'neil's managerial reign at villa. i think that hendrie deserved a chance at least! he's been loyal to us for years, and its a shame that we have pushed him of the plank like this. we didn't do it to Ian Taylor so why do it to Hendrie?

Thanks Lee but lets be honest we need to aim for the Champions League and can you see him playing for any of the top 4! Again another player who has been just about good enough for a bottom half team.

Lee Hendie served us well, but he's average at best. That's why he never really made it on the international stage. At 30, he's past his best and offers very little as a squad player. I think we should offer him as bait to the Baggies for a part exchange for Koumas.

Jason Koumas? I really don't get it again would he play for the Top 4 or even Spurs & Everton. These are good players but we need better quality, he plays for the baggies a good championship team at best!

good riddance to bad rubbish! it's a disgrace that he's having a testimonial dinner despite only playing once for this season and charging £85 a head?! somehow he managed to become very well paid by being less than average so why does he need more money? the best thing we can do is forget about him and look to the future where we have some genuine promising youngsters.
