We get about three or four rumours a week emailed in to us and most of the time they can be discarded quite quickly because either we know Rooney doesn't want to leave Manchester United or that it's Defoe from Spurs and we're quite literally fed up hearing his name.
However, sometimes, one comes in and you believe it. Sometimes because of the source and sometimes because it makes sense. This time it is both; especially on the back of the Liam Ridgewell rumour from earlier today.
Well this one is all about a current FC Porto central defender Bruno Alves and the rumour we've had in says Martin O'Neill is very interested. It doesn't say he's about to sign or that an offer is made; only that he is very interested.
We didn't find out much information about Alves but if you know anything please let us know below. We've done a quick YouTube check and found a few things and he looks decent enough, but apart from that we know very little other than he plays for FC Porto in central defence and is Portuguese.

Perhaps him and his Portugese mate Nunes would fix our defensive weaknesses.
Bruno Eduardo Regufe Alves (born 27 November 1981) is a Portuguese football (soccer) player that plays as a central defender. He currently plays for FC Porto. He was best known for viciously delivering a headbutt into Nuno Gomes's face in the 2005-2006 FC Porto-Benfica for wich he received a red card. Known to be a violent player Bruno Alves became a more calm and concentrated player which surely helped him to show his true value to the team. Strong, tall, and almost invincible in the air, Alves gained a place to Ricardo Costa and João Paulo in FC Porto starting eleven this season and it seems very difficult for anyone to take it from him. 25 years old.
I think Villa should sign King,Defoe,Lennon and Chimbonda from Tottenham. We have a lot of money to spend and Tottenham will sell if we make a good offer.4 Players should cost about £25 million.
commenting on the villa links. I would love reo coker but theres no way i would want us to pay 12m for Bellamy. The dream would have been Keane or Defoe but we are not getting keane now. I also do not want Kewell as he is injury prone.Matt Taylor would be a good signing, but the one player i would break the bank for (£15m offer) is Arteta of Everton who is outstanding. We need a keeper so why not temp man u for an offer for Foster?
I saw a link with this guy on another site. He plays for dutch side Heerenveen, is a striker and has been extremely prolific. Id take him anyday, as he seems to have that important cool in front of goal.

Tim Cahill is the best midfielder outside the top four and we should gor for him. Pay £15m , he's worth.
are you sure that it is not Afonso Alves the herenveen striker?
Yeah that is Alfonso Alves who plays for Herenveeen. Looks to be a decent striker. He scored 34 goals this sseason but I've heard Man Utd are interested in him. I would like to see Martin O'Neill moving quickly in the transfer window before all the decent players are gone. Now that Keane is staying at Spurs and Bellamy has a ridiculous £12 million price tag I think we should go all out and sign D Bent.Reo-Coker would be a decent signing as well and I hope we sign Arthur Boruc from Celtic to replace the inconsistent Sorensen. The possibility of us signing Sneijder from Ajax excites me but I don't know how true the link is
King,Defoe,Lennon and Chimbonda for £25m???? now thats funny ;D
£25m each maybe? Spurs need not sell any of those players do not wish to sell any of them and if they did your valuation is way off the mark they paid £6m for chimbonda alone who has had a great season and chelsea are looking at him for figures seriously north of £10m. King and Lennon are on new long term contracts and would require serious lumps of cash for Spurs to sell.
As for defoe why would he choose to move to Villa think he'd rather be third first sub for spurs than move to Villa spurs paid £8m for him alone and would not sell without making a profit.
Enjoy your fantasies mate
Him playing for f.c Porto probably means he's had plenty of champions league experience and would'nt be a bad addition
Maybe we should have both Alves and make a whole one :D
I dont know about you but im starting to get a bit fed up of all the possibilitys, its as if nothings changed. We always getting linked with good players, but they never sign. I recon MON needs to make a signing soon to put minds at rest. Every day a new name pops up and nothing happens. If he really has got all that money to spend why isnt he getting in there fast before the likes of the big four, spurs, newcastle etc get a sniff. Im not usually so negative but im worried its going to be a long summer and not much to show for it. Does any one else get that feeling!
On the Skysports website, in the 'your view' section the people say:
My uncle is an estate agent and was showing Wesley Sneijder houses in Birmingham. He says 10.5 mill move to Villa. Great buy!
Dean Weldon - Lichfield, Staffs
Valencia have only offered £8m for Wesley Sneijder and their manager doesn't want him so as a result Aston Villa will sign him for £10-12m after he impressed Martin O'Neill and Villa's chief scout in a match against AZ Alkmaar

Met Benni McCarthy at a gas station in Cape Town while he was on holiday and he said its 90% certain that he's on his way to Chelsea. Straight from the horses mouth

I am a student at Cardinal Heenan high school, where David Nugent studied. his younger cousin claims a deal was agreed weeks ago for him to join Everton, for a fee which could rise to 5.5 million after international appearances on a 4 year long contract.
micheal kershaw - liverpool
I saw Van Persie showing Ryan Babel around the Emirates stadium, and my good friend who works there says a deal should be done by the end of the month... you heard it here first!!
Simon Edwards - Islington
I was on a plane heading to Lisbon, in which two seats behind me were Levy and Comolli. I heard them talk about Nani.

A relative of mine works at Villa Park and he says he saw Bellamy and Matt Taylor getting out of a car with Martin O'Neill and he also says that they are close to completing a deal with Man City for Joey Barton.
i don't think skysports your view is ever right and if they are its by complete chance. i look at it but its wrong. why would someone who hasnt even signed for a club be looking at houses. im pretty sure carew and young don't even have permanent properties yet and if they do its recent. i think bouma took a while to get one too.
Are you on drugs Colin?
It is already felling like last summer with the new owner/not new owner, Martin O'Neill or not Martin O'Neill. This was followed by tons of rumours and very little action and what action there was happened just before the end of the window.
It would appear that we have trouble attracting the top people that all fans crave. We are in the middle part of the table and not many top footballers are going to take a risk of maybe doing well. Most of the top footballers want what we do which is success now or as soon as possible. Hopefully, as someone else has said, we'll make a good signing soon to show people that AVFC mean business but I guess its taking some time to secure the right man.
