Villa set to lose out on Baros

Lyon this morning lodged an ?8.5m bid for Milan Baros in an attempt to blow other bidders out of the water.

And I have no doubt that after Villa's debacle over trying to sign the player that Gerard Houllier's bid will do exactly that.

Villa have failed to nail down a fee with Liverpool and, despite Baros saying he doesn't want to play in the French league, may now be out of the running to sign the player.

Baros may feel that Lyon is the only option now that they have set the benchmark for his price tag, leaving the French team in pole position for his signature.

Well done Aston Villa.
