Match Prediction: Bolton and Sammy Lee

I have a feeling deep down and a much higher than normal belief that we win this one. If you've read a match prediction of mine this season you'll see I always predict Villa to win but this time I really do believe it.

It's not just because we've won the last three away for this first time in a long time or that we're in the type of run that if we had kept up in the middle part of the season would see us playing in Europe for sure next season.

It's none of those reasons although I couldn't be faulted or criticised if it was. It's because the football is looking so much better and the team finally, after a few seasons now, look like they have a game-plan.

It's all about the football and right now we have movement, players making space and a belief that we can actually win every game we play in.

You don't need to be a genius to know this is down to Martin O'Neill and after reading everything we've read this week we can't be blamed for having high expectations for next season.

Personally I won't be disappointed as long as we finish in a UEFA cup place next season; the one after is the one where I think expectations can realistically be set at winning something or at the very least giving it a proper go.

But anyway, to Bolton. I think this is the first game at the Reebok Stadium for Sammy Lee as manager and after the poor result last weekend against West Ham he is going to have his players fired up for the last game of the season. Especially because of the lose this they may miss out on European football next season.

It will be a tough match but Lee is going to try and stamp his authority on the team and because of this and what I mentioned above, I see us taking the points and leapfrogging Blackburn who will lose tomorrow and Sunday.

My bet this weekend is Middlesbrough, Portsmouth, Manchester United, Chelsea and Villa. I'm getting 50/1 and seeing as I'm down quite a bit this season I'm putting a tenner on it. If it comes in I will be getting very drunk on Sunday evening.

So that's it for the season on the prediction front. A huge summer of speculation awaits us and I'm guessing at least two big name signings. Up the Villa!

...As we are 2nd in the Fairplay league. Assuming Spurs get a UEFA cup spot, we will be in the draw with 8 other teams (with 2 spots available) to get into the UEFA cup. Now that would be nice!

The lads should go all out for the win, if we lose we stay 11th and Bolton have something to play for so maybe a little cautious in their approach. Hope Carew gets a goal or two.

With our current away form and the way we've played I'd be surprised if we didn't get 3 points.

Bolton were poor against a struggling West Ham side last week so fingers crossed.

Spurs did us a favour last night and as long as Blackburn and Reading draw on Sunday then we're in the hat for the draw and a 10th if we win.

Happy Days!!!
