| My first thought when I saw it..... "Oh no, where has the words Aston Villa gone?" As for the star... makes the whole design completely unbalanced. At least the star is white in colour, and therefore, at first glance, slightly unobstrusive. |

As a graphic designer i don't like it, but i think they had the new kit in mind, it will stand out well if its an all claret top. oh Damian how is it possible to display an immage here while leaving a comment? |

| The reason it is AVFC is that there were too many options in the survey: I believe it was Aston Villa, Aston Villa FC, Aston Villa Football Club or AVFC, so the vote got split between the three others making AVFC the winner. Well, that's my theory anyway! |

Well, we all voted for it so if you don't like it in the end, you shouldn't have bothered. I thought we were going to have a better motto than "prepared". Still, this new badge is to resemble our prestigious history, and hopefully this badge will be the symbol of more prestige in the years to come. UTV |

I like it, admittedly i would have preferred the words aston villa, but it wouldnt have looked right on THAT badge, if you go on the official site they have a page that explains each of the different parts of the badge, for once something on the official site looks proffesional |

| I think on a simple Nike shirt the badge will look effective and clean - on a claret background as displayed on the club site it looks good to me. The star works in a heraldic sort of way - but I'm not sure it demonstrates enough ambition. I'm not concerned at the choice of AVFC over Aston Villa - worn on the number nine shirt of David Nugent I can see us liking it. |

This really is the worst of two designs, the boring old shield shape and really thin and weak colouring. This is not what we should be projecting, bring back the old round logo |

| I sit here at my desk in a graphic design studio waiting with anticipation for the logo that will represent this bright new future for our club. As our new sponsors spend millions of pounds designing and developing a logo and corporate identity to represent their brand around the world, why have we spent 8.50 and given a set of primary school children some felt tip pens. I hope Nike develop a retro shirt for the new kit to match the logo. Remembering the past is one thing...looking like the past is another. Oh and don't get me going on the 'Art Nouveau' prepared font. I would like to know how much has been spent devloping this logo. Keeping the Faith!!! |

Aston Villa is the best name any sports club ever came up with. It should be on our badge. I'm curious about the basis of the opinion voiced here and elsewhere that the badge will look good on a claret shirt. The badge has a claret border. That's hardly going to stand out against a claret background now is it? The lions paws have been rounded and as a result he looks tamed. Not happy with that. Also don't like the rectangle-with-a-nipple take on the shield shape. I favour a round badge but wouldn't object too strongly to a better shaped shield. I personally don't favour the star - it's a matter of opinion. Seems like clinging to former glories to me. I'm more concerned with the present and future. We can project ourselves as great by finishing in the top 4 and getting into Europe. You can rely on every pundit and commentator in the land to remind people of 1982 when we qualify for (and every time we play in) the Champions League. This is not the the badge/crest that'll restore/launch the Aston Villa brand worldwide. |

I think the words "cant be faulted" are severly misguided. Especially as you yourself raise 1 one the major faults (the AVFC). The badge looks terrible. As a statement of intent for a club moving in a dynamic and positive direction, this washed-out, weak crest is pitiful. As someone else points out, Arsenals was modern and in keeping with the clubs direction. But it is also a very useful advertising tool, as it has the "cool factor" on first sight. As a lifelong Villa fan, I feel cheated that our clubs heritage and ethos have been turned into something that looks like it was done by a child on a computer paint program. 1 - The AVFC should at least be Aston Villa FC, if not Aston Villa Football Club - we're proud of who we are, let's make sure other club and their fans know it 2 - The font for the text is neither modern or traditional, but falls between the two - again a signal of non-intent and frankly a couldn't care less attitude from the designers 3 - The block blue background doesn't work in this design, and is the main reason for it looking so amateur. On the badges of old where they used it with a claret lion, it was a sensible backing to make the lion stand out. With this, the yellow lion fades into the background and can't be considered as a feature of the crest anymore 4 - the star is good in both size and position, but again looks weak against a sky blue background - not a well considered design feature 5 - The shape is basically a rectangle with a curved bottom edge. if what they were trying to acheive was to regain some of the features of the badge that used to grace the old trinity road stand, then they should have looked closer, as that badge carries it's shape throughout. 6 - The whole reasoning behind it from the designers is very weak - the crest shape and block blue background are linked to heraldic theory, which in the day-to-day use of the badge has little or no bearing. My concerns with this badge are not only the design itself, but the image this will project to potential sponsors, investors and most importantly, potential fans. As you can see, I am extremely disappointed that we have been given this weak crest for our great club and although people are commenting that it might look good against next seasons shirt, the badge is used in so many other places throughout the business and cannot be seen as just the badge on the shirt. A design such as this that shows no passion, little respect for our history and traditions and a blatant disregard of the positive direction the club is moving in, should be (i hope will be) shunned by fans. I can only hope that Villa fans find their collective voice and a redesign demanded (as happened at Macclesfield Town not so long ago) to ensure that we can all be proud to wear our shirts, crest included. |

| I like it. Villa did a survey and the fans that filled it in decided on alot of it and apparently 80% said they want AVFC on it. People are saying they want the star away? What else have we got to remind other teams that we are European cup winners? and i think that the sky blue background would go well with the claret shirt. |

| The white star (a surprise in itself as most stars on shirts commemorating a trophy are gold), looks like an afterthought and was just positioned where it could be fit. It should have been in gold seperate from the badge and placed just above it. I am not a Villa fan, but I am amazed that the claret and blue stripes have been taken away. It looks like the effort of a class of 12 year olds. I am not a designer but I could have knocked something better than that up in about 10 minutes on my laptop. Whoever is responsible for this should be sacked, or at least sued for posing as a designer! |

I can honestly say that I've never seen such a woeful piece of design in my life. If you didn't know who the Villa were, you'd think they were a non league team. The Mail pictured all the former logos in yesterday's edition and it seems that the Lion on the new badge is loosing its fur, has lost weight and is now scrawnier than any of the previous incarnations. It's dreadful, amateaur and it look's like the board entrusted the office junior to knock it out in Word for Windows using images from a box of clip art bought from the pound shop, Brierly Hill. I'm shocked that a club like Villa with massive aspirations could roll out something so bad. This is the hook that will deliver Villa's brand to its audience and beyond. |

Personally i like the shape of the badge but the inside is a different story. The background should have kept the stripes and the lion needs to look much bolder so it stands out. Like all other European Cup winners, the star should be above and not part of the badge as this makes the star more noticable. Include Aston Villa and 1874 and the shirt would look a little better. Come on Nike save our team and give us a shirt to be proud of instead of the tacky crest our designers are giving us. Barry 4 England |

This AVFC badge is a total nightmare, 48 hours on and I still can not believe what a disgrace this badge is the name of Aston Villa. Randy and his management team need to think again. This is not a strong brand image for the club. I am sure Nike will do a great job on the kit but the look will be soured for me and many many Villa Fans across the world by this badge. What a crying shame this is when we celebrate the team of 82 and are looking forward with hope and optimism for the future of our beloved Aston Villa. |

| Please please please if someone in Mr Lerners so called amasing backround staff reads this site , do something about this mockery before the new season kicks off. I have to say i never liked our last crest with the striped shield and cartoon lion. I think it said alot about our team over the last few years. As a boy growing up i'd dream of kissing the crest infront of the holte and that crest to me was pure perfection. ASTON VILLA FC on a round badge with a fierce gold lion rampant. Is it just me or has it been lost on the designers of this current muck that the simplest way to honour our 82 heros is by using the very crest that lead us to victory instead of trying to use some crap that means nothing to us with a star. What a chance to make us proud to wear the villa jersey again missed. Was anybody else as p**sed as i was when Chelsea used our design??? THERE SHOULD ONLY BE ONE ENGLISH TEAM RAMPANT OVER EUROPE. They had no history of their own so they just robbed crest of the team with the most. |

i agree with brian dunne (previous comment).we should go back to the old circe badge of 82.even if chelsea have stolen the ide.it'll look better on our new nike shirt. and then when my friends, who support the baggies and blues see my shirt i could explain that it is the badge from 82, when we beat bayern 2-1...and then rub it in their faces. ps anyone hear about the uefa fairplay league thing.it means that if tottenham automatically qualify for uefa then villa will get a place because we are 2nd in this fairplay league |
