Martin O'Neill in for West Brom trio
Written by Damian

Martin O'Neill is 'targeting' Diomansy Kamara, Curtis Davies and Jason Koumas from neighbours West Brom. According to the Independent that is.

Now, I like broad sheet rumours. You can be forgiven for having the impression that it's not actually a rumour and that Martin O'Neill actually phoned up the reporter to tell him who was actually on his very private shopping list.

The thing is, why Kamara, Davies and Koumas and why not Defoe, Parker and Wright-Phillips?

Now, I'm not knocking West Brom. They've had a very good season and with a bit of luck they might even get promoted, but what are we aiming for with these three players? If they do get promoted I suspect each of the players mentioned will probably stay at their club, so this will be the end to this rumour.

It's only a rumour and will probably go away like a cold so no opinion on these players is needed but I really would like to see some bigger names getting talked about in the press.

Do the press not know we now have some real expectations?

Two words: making news.

O'Neill might go in for one if he thinks he's top class, but with the money O'Neill has got I doubt we'll be going in for many Championship players.

Even O'Leary said he wouldn't go in for Championship players. And he was a muppet.

I would welcome Curtis Davies buts thats about it. Personnaly i think these rumours are a smoke screen for what MON really has in mind as transfer targets. I think AVFC are trying to give the impression that their transfer budget is not as substancial as many people expect it to be to avoid good clubs driving up the prices on top players. I could be wrong (it wouldnt be the first time)

listen, I would probably have davies - but not koumas or kamara, they're not quality players. I agree 100% with damian about defoe and swp (did u see the game last night !)but not about parker, he's not quality either.

Davies has good potential that may or may not be fulfilled. Kamara is shining in this division but would not be good for more than a half dozen goals in the prem. If we could get the money that's being quoted for him I'd take it gladly. Koumas has big questions against his temperament and effort when the going gets tough. He would be an average prem player. So if you want to pay 12million plus for all three, we'd bite your hands off.

Curtis Davies would be a good signing, but not Kamara or Koumas. I think that others we can go for are Defoe, SWP, Keane, Reo-Koker, bridge and Lescott. personally i would definatley go for Arteta and Makalele. Up the Villa!!!

IMPORT IMPORT IMPORT. all i hear is british talent is what we are looking for. if they are that good and we are seirious about challenging for eourpe and staying in eourpe we need to look at forigen imports, lets face it if they are really that good why are the top four not intrested in them? no flair, creative players at villa we need some invention in the middle of the park like a fabergas, but obviously not fabergas cause he'd cost about the same as what mr learner paid for the whole club.

It's hard picking potential targets for Villa nowadays, you've got to balance the fact that we have a 20mil budget, but we're not the most attractive of teams in the Prem. I wouldn't agree with a lot of you about SWP, i think he is rubs. The Prem is not the place to be looking for class players because the players needed for Europe are in the top 6 and they will now be very highly rated. Looking abroad to the likes of Brazil, France and Africa would be a perfect oppurtunity to bring in speed, creativity and skillz.
No to Bellamy, no to Defoe, no to SWP, no to Keane, no to Davies. No-no-no.
