Saturday's game the end of the road for O'Leary pair?

Saturday?s game was a decent game, albeit against a team struggling like ourselves. However, Thomas Sorenson did himself no favours with the ridiculous attempt to catch Rochembach?s shot.

And with Villa?s recent upturn in fortunes coinciding directly with Gavin McCann?ts omission from the first could time be up for O?Leary?s first two signings?

O?Leary bought them both to do a particular job and it may now be that that job is done.

Sorenson has been fairly liable at times this season and the lack of command for his area is becoming a problem when defending set pieces. He is an excellent shot stopper and at times pulls out magical saves from nowhere, but his overall game is not good enough for us at the moment.

I haven?t been a fan of McCann?t for a while and it is no surprise to me that now he is not in the team we are picking up points and playing well. Midfield is a key position and unfortunately I don?t think he cuts it and is certainly not good enough to run the midfield of a top Premiership side. In order for us to progress McCann?t has to be a squad player at most.

The season is drawing to a close and I think it won?t be long until a few new faces arrive at Villa Park and we can start our assault on breaking into the big four.

no doubt others will disagree with me on this but is it a coincidence that both sorensen and smiler were in the same team at the same time it got relegated?

you saw on saturday that sorensen was gutted to let the goal in but you also saw that he knew it was a big mistake ...

people are not going to get on his back because they know he is on his way out .. o'neill knows he needs better

I think both players are more than worthwhile keeping. But Smiler McCann is to similar to Petrov and Petrov has more too his game than Smiler. The main problem in Villa is creatitivy and offensive thrust in the midfield department. I hold Smiler as a solid player, but I can't see that there will be room for him in a next year starting-eleven.

Sørensen on the other hand is a solid goalie who has been steady all season. All goalies do the occational mistake, but I wouldn't use the Rochemback-goal to disqualify him for Villa and the future.

Listen, sorenson and mccann are ok, but only for back-ups. If we can move Stuart 'Why rush out your goal while jloyd is giving you a backpass' Taylor on to Dagenam and Redbridge and get a top-notch keeper in as no 1 , and if sorenson agrees to being a number 2 - we'll be fine. We could do with sorenson sticking around until olejnik comes of age. i really rate Olejnik having been to a few reserves games this season at Walsall. For smiler, we could keep him for another season while Isaiah has a season out on loan somewhere, but the same goes for him.
:)Hail the Randylution and Messiah Martin

McCann has been great in a team that is bottom half material. Maybe Fulham of Sheff Utd? He just hasn't got the presence and poise of a Makelele or Viera and lets be honest thats what hes there to do. See you Gav, thanks for the memories (or lack of them!)
Sorro, not sure to be fair as understudy for Schmichael for so long you would think he would have learnt something from the greatest goalkeeper ever to play the game. We need a solid set of hands with some presence, not sure who but Buffon might be a good option!!!
Up Martin the best manager around and Randy you are a real clarer and blue as far as I concern, thanks. ;D

McCann and Sorensen are garbage McCann's a thug and runs round like a headless chicken when he loses the ball sorensen's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard can't kick cant distrubute well ok ood shotstopper but don't command his area for an international keeper sod em both back to sunderland or the next club dreary o'leary signs for we don't need them we are better than that

We need better players than these two if we are to reach the heights of European football and the top 6.

They are not good enough but they have served us well and work hard for the team. Give them some small amount of respect. Oneill knows who should stay and who should go.

David,
When was Sorenson a number 2 to Schmeical? International get togethers can hardly count can they? About 10 days a year?
I never was a fan of Tommy though and we haven't had a decent keeper since Bozzy left, have we? One after the other we have bought liabilities. Oakes, James, Enkleman, Taylor, and now Tommy. I think we deserve a keeper who isn't going to make us feel trepidation every time a cross comes anywhere near the box.
As for McCann, he did us a job when we needed it. I remember last season, or so, every time he was injured/suspended we really missed him. Now we don't at alland are even less likely to once we get the next lot of players in. Someone who can pass would do...... ;D

i think that Sorenson and Macann must go in the summer. i personally can't see them getting in the first team next season. i know it sounds ambitious, but what about makalele as a replacement for Macca? u never know?

Not a good keeper since bosnich left? Was I dreaming when I saw Peter Schemical in goal for villa about 5 seasons ago and even scoring a goal against everton?
