Villa drop points at home to Wigan

How do you beat a team of ten men in an hour of football? The answer is simple; shoot and you will score. I didn't count the actual shots but I know there should have been a helluva lot more today.

The Doc will be writing in later but it's very frustrating to see your team have the advantage but not really use it. Sure they made the most out of having the extra man and possession will be something like 80% to Villa for the second half but they just didn't have the shots.

Nice to see Luke Moore back and Young came on for Bouma towards the end of the first half; he's still got to work on his heading as he had another clear opportunity today that he headed to close to the keeper.

Still, a point is better than nothing but it's so bloody annoying that they couldn't beat 10 man Wigan. But you feel as if things are getting better and moving in the right direction even if the result doesn't say so.

A bit unfair, Damian - we hammered them, and they cheated and time wasted their way to a draw. The lads played really well, again, credit where it's due.

Trying not to be negative but it is very very frustrating not to beat 10 men over 60 minutes .. I agree they also controlled the ball well and dominated for the second half but 7 shots on target in 90 minutes ... one shot on target every twelve minutes ... very frustrating

Wigan used every trick in the book and it worked,i feel we went about it all in the wrong way.Instead of laying seige at the Wigan goal perhaps stretching the play and moving their players around the pitch alot more would have been the way to go,surely its easier to defend when your all in a line waiting for the ball to come forward ,and harder to defend when being stretched and pulled all over the pitch
