Craig Bellamy and David Nugent rumours persist

It's Saturday and I almost can't be bothered with it as it's another weekend with little football. I'm thinking if I start drinking properly now I could be asleep by 1pm and I wouldn't wake until Sunday; of course I'm not going to do that but I wouldn't mind fast forwarding to Wednesday.

The Daily Mirror have us linked with Craig Bellamy this weekend as it appears after helping Liverpool knock out Barcelona in the Champions League this week, he's not needed at the club any more.

I've spoken to a couple of Liverpool fans about Bellamy and we all agreed that he comes across, in the media, as a bit of a tosser but we've also all agreed we'd all like him at our club.

As for David Nugent. I saw him score a great goal this week, or maybe last week, against Southampton and it had quality written all over it. I'd love him at Villa but you wouldn't want to be paying that much for him.

I'm also not sure how Martin O'Neill expects to kick us on next season but I think we've got to be looking at some real quality and while Bellamy has it and Nugent could I think we need someone in midfield before we start filling out other positions.

After Liverpool next Sunday we've got to wait until April until the next game; against Everton at home. I'm really not liking these long breaks and I'm hoping next season it will be different.

Touching on Everton; come back next week for a chance to win three tickets to the match and if you want a bet this weekend I'm having a cheeky bet on United, Blackburn and Plymouth at 371/50; got to be worth a tenner.

We need to be getting a couple of good creative midfielders in and some defenders that can defend set pieces. The youngsters will learn but we need some defenders who can spot these things and teach Cahill and Ridgewell how to defend them.

They would be good signings, but i'm not convinced on Bellamy. could still look higher in the market, however it's important to keep the team british, rather then spanish liverpool or french arsenal. i agree that we deffernatley need some decent more experianced defenders. up the villa!!!

McCann is O.K. but not that good, if we had someone like Essien or Makalele then it would help out the defence and they could just lay off simple balls for (the supposedly creative )Petrov etc to supply the forwards

It's stupifying how we've had so little football this year isn't it?

Martin O'Neill has again added massive praise on Bellamy, saying he's "good" to work with, and the words "brilliant" and "intelligent" were thrown in for good measure, a pre-cursor to signing him this Summer? Looks that way.

Nugent is an exceptional striker, expect him to be snapped up before the start of next season, so it could be between him and Bellamy, I can't see them both being brought in to Villa.
