Should time be called on Martin Laursen?

We've not run a quick question in a long time but this one seems fitting today. There is no doubting his ability; we've all, well maybe all, have seen him play in claret and blue and he has looked good.

So what do you think should happen to Laursen, now that he's picked up yet another injury?

For me, it was Laursen yesterday that cost us the goal and I'm still bemused as to how he can come back from injury and replace Cahill and Ridgewell in the starting line up when Cahill and Ridgewell have done so well this season when called upon.

The manager seems to be on his side saying "He's got a hamstring problem and that's again disappointing for him.

"It's the story of his time with Villa - injury after injury. Hopefully this one won't be too serious, but obviously it's irksome."

I think Martin O'Neill has it wrong this time although if he decides to continue with Martin Laursen he won't hear me complaining.

What do you think; answer the quick question to the right.

When he's fully fit, Laursen's a class act. But he went AWOL for the Fulham goal. I must say, the back 4 looks vulnerable at set-pieces whoever's playing in the centre!

He's still our best centre half (when fit) - stick with him.

It is difficult becasue, when fit, laursen is our best centreback. But we have two brilliant young centrebacks in ridger and gaz cahill and with olof as well I would rather sell laursen and bring in a high-profile quality centreback with Randy's money

I have to say i dont rate ridgewell at all, and i think in 3 or 4 years cahill will come good, but at the moment i dont think either of them should have a first team place. I know they are young, but the mistakes they make are too costly, and laursen - when fit - has been brilliant, better than any other defender - except maybe bouma - and i think his experience is why he was put ahead o cahill and ridgewell, whenever i see their names on the teamsheet i always feel nervy about the match ahead. Sometimes they cme good, but more often than not they dont. I think MON's main priority for the next transfer window is a decent - experienced - central defender, who isnt't prone to injuries. But on their day i think Mellberg and Laursen can match anyone.

Its rather unfortunate that Laursen seems to pick injury after injury but Villa would better stick with him because when he is fit he is an accomplished defender.

Laursen is not going to be 100% again and we need 100%, therefore, byebye.

Mmm...anyone remember Darren Anderton? A great player on his day but so injury prone. Laursen is undoubtedly our 'best' centre- half but he just can't stay fit for more than about 3 or 4 games in a row. 19 appearances in 2 years just goes to show that his dodgy knee is never going to get better.

I get so angry when I hear about yet another hamstring injury to a Villa player. This isn't coincidence, this has to be related to the training procedures. What's the betting they have all the players pumping away on leg strengthening machinery. There are only two ways to strengthen legs muscles properly in conjunction with all the other surrounding muscles. Running and swimming.
