No new name for Villa Park but expect an offer in for one of the stands soon

Liverpool were sold this week and the talk on some of the Liverpool forums is 'it will always be Anfield to me' as they as good as know that there new stadium is going to get branded.

It's going to get branded every few years because they'll raise some serious money that allows them to compete at the highest level.

We're not going to do it the same way but we're not leaving Villa Park. Randy Lerner has today confirmed that Villa Park will never get renamed, however he has left the door open for additional revenue by suggesting that he's open to offers on selling the naming rights to each of the stands.

Talking on the official website he said "Let's say we looked at the North Stand and Nike for example wanted to name that stand. That's a different proposition to renaming the stadium. We are not changing the name of Villa Park. The name will not be changed."

Personally, I wouldn't have cared if Mr Lerner sold the naming rights to Villa Park, if it meant we got a hefty amount of cash each season for the transfer fund and I honestly don't care that much about renaming the stands. All money is good money if it is for the benefit of the club.

If the club are going down this route I would however like to make a ?12 offer to have one of the stands renamed. Any suggestions on which one and to what?

The Doug Ellis stand must be renamed-Pongo Waring had his own dressing room so why not his own stand??If there was ever a Villa legend it has to be Tom "Pongo" Waring !!

It's interesting that Lerner's thinking like this, I've been quite impressed with him and hope our new Americans are similar.

As for your stand. Maybe behind the goals could be the Milan Baros ends, isn't that where most of his shots ended up?

What would be wrong with somthing like this for example(Villa Park ,proud to be associated with nike)or who every wants to sponsor the stadium? would still be called villa park but just have the sponsors name below it.what about a "were not fickle"stand

I'm as over the moon as everyone else is with the takeover, Mr.Lerner, The Messiah, the transfers, the belief...But let's not lose the plot.

Shall we sell up altogether, call ourselves The Ass Town Cowboys(TM) as sponsored by ESSO! Or how about New Aston Ferrets(TM) with extra WMD!! Please.

If The Holte End is renamed, it will cease to exist, no matter how many hot dogs you can stuff down your face in the first 'quarter'. It's AVFC we're on about, not British leyland.

LET'S BE CAREFUL OF WHAT WE WISH FOR.

PS: I'll say it again, I will never buy another Villa shirt again as long as it has that 'tick' on it. I don't see the glamour in impoverished 3rd world children stitching together overpriced crap for a pittance.

Up the Villa! It's about the club, not the franchise.

Keeping it as Villa Park and selling naming rights to the stands every few years sounds like a happy medium to me. We will stand out as a classy organization that hasn't totally capitulated in the face of rampant commercialism, yet still be pulling in some decent money.
