Baros snubs Lyon as Villa lead the chase

Milan Baros has publicly snubbed the French league by saying "I have nothing against the French league, it is certainly of a very high quality, but I consider the leagues in England and Spain to be the best ones".

This could be a last ditch attempt to land a club in Spain or it could be that the Liverpool striker is set to join Villa.

This quote as good as rules out Monaco and Lyon who have both tracked the Czech striker and leaves Villa as firm favourites to sign the player.

Patrik Berger has helped David O'Leary convince Baros after he admitted he telephoned the midfielder to ask about the club, "He said it is a club of very high quality, but he did not give me any advice. He left the decision to me."

Baros faces Mellberg in a friendly on Wednesday. Hopefully by the end of the week Baros will be a Villa player.
