John Carew on the verge of signing for Villa?

It's thought that Milan Baros will be signing for former boss Gerard Houllier at Lyon next week and coming the other way will be Norwegian international John Carew.

Carew is a big striker who likes to score goals. Of the 220 club games he has played since turning professional in 1997 he's scored 85 goals which is, on average, a goal every 2.5 games.

I don't think I would like to see Baros leave but he's never really done it on a regular basis here or at Liverpool so maybe a striker like Carew, who is more suited to how O'Neill likes to play, will be better for the club in the short term.

Carew is the kind of "tank-forward" that Villa so desperately needs. If this is correct it will be perfect for Villa !
If he comes Im 100% sure he will be a great hit in Villa and in Premier League.
For those who doesnt know this player: think of Koller and add more speed and more tecnique.
Im praying for this deal to go through!

I sure hope that this will happen! I am a big fan of both Villa and Carew, since the days he played for Rosenborg. He has also played for Valencia, Roma, Besiktas and now Lyon.
I think he would be a great signing for most of the teams in the Premiership and I would be VERY glad if he signed for us!

Great player, has pace, height, strength and skill.

Honest to God, if we get Carew and Young that would be amazing. Carew is a champions league player.

Well from what I have read the only reason he wants out at Lyon is that he is not getting the playing time. To bad for them it seems and if they are so willing to let him go lets take him.

Seems he not only a big strong striker who is good in the air. He also in active in many charitys and when you bring a player like that in and get him involved into the community they are usually a player the fan can really take hold of fast.

Not sure how well he has done in the Champions league but I did see the video of that one goal he had vs Real Madrid. I think though that bringing that type of experience into the club not only will benifit us in the short term but also in the long run.

Not sure if there is a bad side to this unless he somehow doesen't play at all due to injury or somthing of that nature.

I was also thinking of Jan koller when I saw the Carew link !!!!!

Please villa, get him.

At Present Lyon play a 4-3-3 system with Malouda/Kallstrom on the left Gavou/Wiltord on the right with either Carew/Fred down the middle.

He is a power house and just runs at defenders for fun! Very tall and lean, just what we need.
