Come on down: Richard FitzGerald is the new CEO of Aston Villa

Richard FitzGerald became the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aston Villa Football Club in December last year and from what we understand he'll soon be making an appearance or two, but to recognise the fact that we have a new CEO we thought we'd welcome him, in our own special way.

Mr FitzGerald started his professional career as an Accountant at Deloitte Haskins & Sells in 1983. He very quickly made a name for himself and it wasn't long before the offers started to flood in.

After just over four years at Deloitte Haskins & Sells he joined Norand (UK) Ltd as their European Controller. The Norand job lasted 15 months before he moved on to bigger and better things.

After leaving Norand he joined TWI which is the company he is joining us from. His final position at TWI was as Senior Vice President for TWI’s interactive division, IMG.

In his spare time he enjoys hockey, sailing and tennis. He is a School Governor and a member of the NSPCC sports steering committee. He went to Reading University and obtained his degree in Economics.

Why are we telling you this? It's because we've sent an email to Mr FitzGerald and hope to get an answer in the next few days about him answering a few of your questions.

Now that we've mentioned it we are pretty sure the official web site will do something along the same lines but we want real questions with real answers, not what the official web site will publish, despite their claims.

While we are waiting, ask your question below if you have one and we will make sure they get put on his desk. At this stage we can't guarantee he'll answer them but we'll do our best.

We know he's busy but we are the fans and we believe he understands the importance of communicating with us. We'll hopefully update you very soon with some positive news.

I assume you're joking SteveO so I wont answer ... but justin case anyone didn;t see it there is an 'open letter' on the Birmingham Post website today... surprising that it comes the day after!

It's quite clear the guy writing it doesn't know what is going on at the club or that the club isn't doing enough to publicise what they are saying to fans on forums.

And as a matter of point, the writer says that the new CEO spent more than two decades at IMG; it's actually 18 years and 3 months!

A CEO stands for Chief Executive Officer, meaning that this guy is god and in business terms the second most important man from a business point of view and the person Randy trusts to run AVFC! I would like to ask what are his plans for sponsorship, commercial and stadium? How will his running of the club be different to the past decade? How will Villa be sold around the world as a sporting brand? How will he use his past experience at TWI to develop the media side of Villa?

Think that should do for now eh!
