Baros and Bent swap?
Written by Luke

I’ve just heard from a Charlton fan that they are interested in Milan Baros and at the same time heard that Pardew has said he’ll listen to offers for Darren Bent.

I’m not sure about Baros going to Charlton as I think his ego is too big for him to want to move there. I’d take Darren Bent any day, having watched him at Ipswich for years.

If Charlton were to do a swap I think they’d want cash on top as that’s the reason they’re selling. Maybe Jimmy Floyd and Bent for Baros and cash would be acceptable as I don’t think O’Neill or Villa value Baros at the same figure that the previous incumbent and Ellis did.

I feel to get Darren Bent we’d need to pay cash and I hope we do, but until I see it I’ll just keep dreaming.

Lets just pay the money for bent he is a proven goalscorer has loads of pace, good in the air and is strong on the ball. Charlton will be looking for 10 mil for him. Some say its too much but you have to pay the money if you want quality.

i would swap bent for baros any day of the week. bent would be a dream signing for us. however why would they want to swap there star man a 15 goal a season at least certain striker, for a player who only score 1 in 20 games and does not try and blames it on his confidence- when villa had a great start he was still saying he was short of confidence!! i think he does not even try and we should offload him! however i would not swap with to charlton i would sell him for 7 million to real sociadad and then add 3-4 m and get bent for 10-11m. this is because spurs had a bid today rejected for 7m for him.

darren bent, phil bardesley. defo

Would be delighted to see Darren Bent coome in. I can see on paper the Baros link, but I agree - ego.

Whatever happens with Baros though, we clearly need strikers and to me, Darren Bent is the best that we have a shot at.

Sorry guys but there is no way Bent will be joining Villa, when I read this thread I just laughed. Illusions of grandeur I feel. If he goes it'll be for 12-15 million (otherwise what is the point in Charlton selling him?? - with that they an buy 3-4 players to keep them up), and it'll be to one of the top clubs. Sorry Villa

Isnt he injured at the moment?if we are going to pay £10m we need a player who is fully fit not some 1 who is out for six weeks then needs another two to get match fit.We need players to make an immidiate impact and boost the confidence of the whole squad.Lets see how he gets on for the rest of the season and then bag him when Charlton are relegated. As for Baros it wouldnt surprise me if he plays badly on purpose to bring the asking price down to secure a definate future away from villa park?

I think David F you are the man who has mistaken feelings of grandeur. You've nearly been relegated many times since coming up and that was with a good manager!

Darrent Bent has obviosuly seen the papers. He's seen the clubs he's been linked with. I find it very hard to believe that he'll want to wait until Charlton have been relegated to make the move from the Valley. If this is the case, and Bent wants to move in Jan, then Pardew (whom I respect greatly as a manager) has to let him go, save aggravating him and causing a drop in his form. In my eyes, a striker (especially) should be playing and training with 100% heart day-in-day-out, which Bent wouldn't be if Pardew denied him a move. With regards to his injury, this serves only to push the asking price down a tad. The one thing is for sure, neither Bent nor Charlton have anything positive to take out of the media circus surrounding Bent's possible transfer. I just hope the ones who gain are the Villa.

Oh and I believe the phrase is 'delusions of grandeur'. How about that? A midlander teaching a Londoner English?

I think that Bent would be a great signing for the club, but will Lerner shell out the funds? Is Bent interested in coming?

What's been frustrating for me so far is that it seems as if there's no plan. I know it's only been 5 days, but one would think that something would have transpired by now.

Look at Fulham!!! They've signed two players and possibly have a third coming in. Obviously, they identified the players they wanted and went after them.

I wish we would look at Oguchi Onyewu. His negotiations with Fulham just broke down. He's a good looking defender who can only get better. He won't be expensive either at around 2.25M.

Hopefully something will happen soon. I fear that if something doesn't happen soon after the match on Sunday that there could be some unrest towards the club.

I think we'll get a loan signing in Bardsley on Monday but I understand the frustration. Has January come as a surprise to the club or did they forget to look at the diary?

On the other hand Martin O'Neill is looking for quality but by his own admissions he has also said if he cant find that quality he still needs players to beef up the team if only on a temporary basis.

It's going to be interesting but I cant see many peopl eturning against the club just yet ... if at the end of the summer we've not spent maybe but I'd still give him next season.
