Martin O'Neill to make £7m offer for Jermain Defoe

Hold the salt. It's not just the Daily Mirror, it's a few newspapers today all saying the same thing; Martin O'Neill is going to make a bid for Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.

Jermain Defoe is the type of striker that you'd like to see playing for you. He's in the England squad, on the verge of a full time starting place and has tremendous ability.

I'd take Jermain Defoe every day of the week. I'd even go so far to say I'd have Keane from them but maybe Defoe just pips him on my top fifty wanted players list.

If this happens it raises the question of who is surplus to requirements in January? Gabby, Luke, Angel, Baros or Sutton? I wonder.

Keane is far better than Defoe

Defoe would be a great signing: quick, sharp and a good finisher. I'd prefer him to Keane for his youth - his best years are ahead of him. Hope it's true.

Baros is no1 to go followed closely by Angel. If Baros doesn't start scoring goals he'll be shipped out in January or Summer at the latest.

Keane's only 24, he's got his best years ahead of him too

Lost a bit of form i feel this season, he simply doesn't score enough goals. But with mr motivator behind him who knows what he'll achieve. If he comes. I personnally feel its paper talk and would hope a bigger and better striker comes in january.

Baros will go, sad to see it cause he has ability but seems to be a player happy on a fat pay cheque.

Defoe - all day long.
Keep both Sutton and Angel, and rotate with Luke and Gabby and we will have a superb front line. Give Defoe a proper run in any side and he will score goals, his finishing and vision is excellent, along with Luke cool finishing we will have a quick young front line. Angel and Sutton can add their physical presence where needed.

Although Darren Bent wouldnt be bad along side Defoe either!

...is 26. Still, marmaset has a point: I thought he was in his late twenties. Maybe it's because the flips are looking quite as youthful these days, or because that equaliser for Ireland against Germany feels like a decade ago!

I think Baros is on his way out to be honest. Shame really has bags of ability but I can't say I have ever seen him give 100% for the cause. Frustrating to watch at times. Seems to go to ground very easy then sit on the pitch moaning about the challenge instead of getting up and chasing to get the ball back again. Mind you he did score against Small Heath Alliance so I hope he proves me wrong.

Think keane just edges it over Defoe for me. He makes intellegent runs and his work rate is fantastic.

Up the Villa!!

Ive always thought that we could sign both Defoe and Bent, Baros to leave in Jan and Angel at the end of the season, what does everyone think?? Bent would join in june after charlton are relegated

Listen to you lot, Defoe and Keane are happy and in contracts we won't let either go and they wouldn't want ot leave anyway you sound like you can choose which one!!!!
